Haltech F3? Anybody using it

Hey, I was wondering if anyone was using a Haltech F3 for fuel management. What are you using to control spark. I am looking at possibly using the F3 and a 12a Turbo distributor. I will be using it for a boosted 13bt seeing above 15psi. Any help is greatly appreciated.

F3 was made around 15-20 years ago. They are commonly found in "Lada Niva" cars as factory ECU's. (not programmable in these by the way).
i would expect one of these fuel only multipoint ecu's to fetch maybe US$50-100

yeah thanks, I already know what it does and how old it is. I asked if anyone has used them on a 13b? And if so what did they control spark with?

The F3 is a trully tried and tested ECU, how ever it ONLY does fuel, no additional options, just control the injectors. The amazing part is that sometimes one will pop up on ebay in brand new condition and they often go for over 400 bucks for one like that. Others that have been used go for 200-400.

If you are going to run a boosted 13B, by all means get either a used E6K or even an E6X and do a proper installation so you can control timing. No timing control with boost is a sure way to blow up, or not make the engines full power potential.

As far as controlling spark, just get a pair of MSD 6 units or a single DIS2 and go from there.

thanks dude. I appreciate the response. It was going to be run with a boost retard 12a turbo dizzy. But I have changed plans now. I am going to use an e6k and do it right off the bat. My buddy will probably use the f3 and a normal vacuum retard dizzy to run a semi peripheral port.

There is an IG5 for sale here, which may go well with your F3?

The F3 isn't quite that old, it was made in the mid 90's from what i recall... i purchased one in 1996 from what i recall.

Does anyone else here have one or running one?

well, again from what i recall... i got my first computer, a 486 in 1991 and it was several years after that i purchased the F3 and ran it on that computer on the dyno. Not saying that it wasn't made in the 80's, just can't imagine what they would use to tune when pc's were pretty sparce in the early thru mid 80's

Ok, it might not be early 80's, but sure was in the late 80's, in any case, the F3, even if its a mint condition unit, wont do you much good, since its only a fuel computer, no aux. options, nothing. You still wanna run it when you can get all the benefits of an E6X or even a used K?

And DOS OS has been available since before 85.
