Haltech E8 won't connect to pc

I know this has been covered but I can't get a definate answer. I powered it on a connected to my laptop a couple of weeks ago before I mounted everything and it worked. Now it won't work and I don't remember how I had it hooked up. All I want to do it get it connected so I can load stuff on it. Which wires do I need hooked up?

I know these are the main wires but don't know which combination it is:

2 reds
2 orange
1 black
1 grey
1 grey/red

Please help, thanks

The two red wires and gray go to 12V+. The black goes to ground. The orange wires are fuel pump power to the relay and out of the relay. One goes to 12V+, the other goes to the positive side of the fuel pump. The gray/red wire is the 12V+ feed to the injectors.

yea i got that but theres another gray/red in the harness, that also goes to switched 12v. im guessing its connected to that other gray/red to supply the injectors, but is it needed to power it on?

So to basicaly to turn it on are the 2 reds, 1 black, and solid gray for the switch wire?

It still won't connect. I don't know what im doing wrong. I have the 2 two reds +12, and black -, and grey +12. I know its getting power cause I hear the relays click when I hook up the grey wire but still wont connect to my laptop, and the COM ports are setup correctly. I hooked up the orange that goes to 12+ just to make sure and still nothing. I've tried everything I know of. Any insite on this would help, thanks

Ok, I just hooked everything up like it should be. I got the power wires from one of the A/C blower harness. There is a thick blue wire (constant 12v), a yellow wire (12v switched), and a black ground that I used. I hooked up the 2 reds and 1 orange for the fuel pump to 12v. I hooked up the grey/red wire to the yellow switch wire, and black negative. I turn the key and nothing. No power relay or anything. I can trip the fuel relay by touching the grey wire to 12v and hear a click but thats it. Everything has been moving along fine until this, i'm just ready to give up. Any advice? I'm gonna try to switch the relays around and see what happens

Switched them around, nothing. Is there any way that I could have shorted the ECU out or something?

Ok I fixed the problem, if anyone is running a haltech ECU and your using a USB to Serial adapter, make sure it's a Keyspan USA-19HS. I had a cheapo off ebay and did not work. The keyspan works very well running on vista. (32bit anyway)
