E6K tach output/ finishing up harness..

Im just trying to figure out which if any outputs from my E6k will run my stock 1st gen 12a tach? Aux Out? Green /black? pin 27? Or just tap into pin 36 Ign out? i am running 4 smartcoils and wastespark.

Thanks!

Aux out is the only output that has a built-in pull-up to properly drive the tach. Wire it to the yellow/blue wire that terminates in a single female bullet connector near where the stock trailing coils were located. Set the output voltage at 0-12v. Problem with the E6K/X is that the pulses are not programmable. So I'm not sure the output from the ECU is going to match the tach. The tach may read correctly, or it may show half or twice the correct RPM.

Ok ill try that... If its incorrect can I then tap into a signal to a coil? Or will that hinder coil operation?

Different tab. It's under Setup > Input/Output Setup

any updates on whether the E6K tach output is appropriate for the FB's tach?

P.S. I know from swapping a full FC EFI setup into an FB, that the FC's (at least S4 FC) PCM Tach output IS compatible with the FB tach... Hence "if the tach out works from E6K to FC, than it should work in a FB"

Got the car running!

also the tacho out does not seem to work for the 85 12a stock tach.. not yet anyways...

Chris did you say that there are no adjustments on the E6k/E6X. for tach out.. just on or off basically? because its not making my tacho do anything... i thought it was jumping before... however this is when it was in constant duty mode not constant charge... would this make any difference?.

No. Charge/Duty won't make a difference. Make sure you have the output set at 12V. Are you using the Aux Out or one of the PWMs or Digital outputs?

The menu underneath the Aux Out menu is the pull-up option. Make sure it's set to 12V.

I have been messing around with the e6kv634 and can't see anywhere to change voltage on auxiliary out.

Still cannot get tachometer to work .... I tried aux output / pwm1 output and tried both with pull up resistor to 12v. Nothing.. On the engine data page the ecu is showing the engine speed...can I wire it another way possibly? From a coil or something?
