Has anyone successfully used AEM Super Coils for above 600 WHP? I ask because my ECU vendor claims I will have problems with breakup above this level.

People have done that with 2 rotors, 3 rotor should be easier. Ask C.ludwig.

The ECU vendor is Haltech USA right? What dwell time do they say to run them at?

^ Thanks. Was supposed to have these in a few months ago and now making it happen. Yes, Haltech and the PS2000. Haltech won't give dwell times for the AEMs so I need to go directly to AEM for the info.

Shouldn't be a problem using the AEM coils with 600hp and we're actually trying to figure out a mount for 6 coils lol. They take up a lot of space.

David run between 4 and 4.5mS dwell time. At high boost run the higher dwell obviously. C.Ludwig suggests to not go over 4.5 mS for any car that is not a drag car.

^ Thanks. Had a conversation with one of the engineers yesterday and that is what had me post this up. We shall see.

Don't waste your time with AEM. Haltech doesn't have much experience with these coils either. Lance Nist is the guy that knows this coil inside and out; literally. It's a shame that when everyone starts rebadging items and jumping on bandwagons to market old ideas as their own, how the originators and the real smarts behind the idea somehow get sifted to the bottom of the heap.

David, there are guys making well over 600 to the wheels on E85 with this coil. Asking it to do 600 to the wheels on a 20B is childs play. Keep in mind, it's not all about dwell. How the coil is wired is very important. No shortcuts can be taken on this end. This is a detail that seems to easily fall through the cracks with many of the new users.

Thanks for the advice. So what is the best source then for dwell time settings and wiring? I've got 6 of these coming in to replace my MSD Blaster coils and want to do it right.

Hey David,
I've been hard at work on a 6 coil mounting solution for us 20b guys It's a bit complicated pulling it off but I've got a prototype finished. It's down to half mm's and a few tweaks to gain the extra space, but it works Shoot me a PM on my personal account, I'll tell you more.

We should have the brackets and wires "in stock" by the end of the week. There will be a short lead time on coils. Our harness won't be ready to go for a few weeks however. We'll leave those off the site for now. Anyone requiring a harness that was part of the original prep-sale would get the same pricing and free shipping on the harnesses.

Hopefully we've made enough of these kits to satisfy demand... I'm a little nervous about quantities available since we didn't think there would be nearly as much demand as there seems to be now

We aren't claiming to be the developers of this coil for the FD platform. The Mercury Marine coil has been around for years. In our first post we stated the AEM coils are becoming more popular throughout the tuning community and especially among RX-7 owners. We acknowledge that you've been using them for some time and you've helped increase the popularity of these coils in the FD community. As you know and have proven the AEM/MM coils are an excellent upgrade from the factory ignition system. We've been using them with great success as well. We respect you as a valued contributor to this community and hope that you respect us as a paying vendor of this forum.

We saw a void in the market and began developing a bolt in FD-specific mounting solution along with complimentary spark plug wires. At that point we came to the realization that it was logical to offer a complete plug and play package. This package will be no different than the rest of our products. At SakeBomb Garage we design our parts for ease of installation and to be completely reversible. Innovation leads to better products for the community.

Sorry for the holdup, we are just ironing out the final details and taking product shots. Heath is a bit picky (OCD) when it comes to the fine details, so sometimes things take a bit longer then expected We'll have it up shortly. Here's a picture of the bracket/coils and plug wires in the mean time Those wires are red btw...On my screen they look pinkish for some reason.

Curious, any chance you'd offer black wires as well? The stealth look is pretty nice!

We do have all black wires as well. I just haven't had a change to take product shots of them yet.

Well the good news is the products are up for sale on the site. We are still working on the multiple item discounts, descriptions and product shots. The coils are default checked, but if you don't need/want coils just uncheck the box and the price will adjust accordingly like magic right before your eyes

We will make an official post once we straighten out the discounts. If you order plug wires and the bracket, $15 will be subtracted from the price...That part does work.

I know everyone is antsy in their pantsy, so we greatly appreciate your patience with us.

Thanks,

What kind of RPM capability will these coils have. I wonder if these would work for my setup...

I have a Semi-P Port motor being built by Sean and will be running a 6766 at 21lbs of boost with Water Injection. I will also have a map for E85. The motor will be tuned for 9500 rpm as well. The setup will be tuned with ProiEFI. Thoughts?

I just need the mount and wires and when I deselect the box for the coils, the price stays the same. The wires and mount are $300? Maybe my computer at work is against me

Works for us. Try again. Just deselect the coils, and select your bracket finish and wire colors.
