Just wanted to give props to a great shop in Huntington Beach, CA. It's run by a guy named Yoshi, who owns an FC. He bought the shop just recently, so I don't believe he is very well known yet.
I took my FD there for a coolant leak fix last Wednesday, and picked it up today. The final total cost was a lot lower than what I thought it would be (I was actually estimated out at a higher cost). In the end, it was a pretty simple fix, and I appreciated how honest Yoshi was. He also spotted my engine mounts were slightly loose, and tightened them for me. In addition, he and Yosuke (other shop mechanic) offered to drop me off/pick me up from a car rental shop. These guys were very congenial, sincere, and honest--which can be hard to find as far as auto mechanics are concerned. Not only that, but Yoshi's an RX-7 specialist as well.
I can confidently recommend Neptunespeed to anyone looking for a rotary shop in SoCal. From now on, any work that needs to be done to my FD will go there. However, I advise that an appointment be made, because having inherited the prior shopowner's client list, Neptunespeed can be pretty busy. And Yoshi also likes to ensure that what he fixes will be of high quality, so don't expect something to be done yesterday. But you can rest assured it won't be half-assed either.

+1 for Yoshi. Glad you had a good experience at his shop. I met him well before he opened up his shop, but he's been wanting to do it for a long time. He's the friendliest guy you'll meet, and he really loves cars (and bikes). Everyone needs to go and talk to him once just to know that he's someone that you should take your car to. I might give him a call to see if he'll work on my bike the next time I need something done to it

Hello all,
Just to let you know that I took my single turbo there yesterday to get a initial base map setup.
I've been trying to get a light throttle tune done myself but it's been taking for ever and it's very difficult on the street / toll road around here.
Since I only have 200 miles on my new engine, I just needed a 0-4000 RPM to 0 psi tune so I can properly break in the engine.
I decided to take it to Yoshiya at Neptunespeed for a quick dynotune. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone. He took great care and about 2 hours on the dyno to make the PowerFC map that I wanted. After that we took the car out and drove it to make sure it was okay. He then finished the map by smoothing out the map, another half hour and then took it out for a final check.
I then drove it home, and what a difference. I had a very rough map started, and he made the car run very smooth throughout the 0-4000 RPM to 0 psi. I drove home with a big grin!
I spent quite a bit of time talking with them and they know rotaries; building, modifying and tuning them.
So if you have been on the fence about going there either for PowerFC tuning or some other work, I would give them a chance as they are very fair and highly knowledgeable.

These guys are hella cool. Yoshi n Yosuke know what's up and had a very welcoming personality. FINALLY!!!! a shop that I can trust. My FC is my life and to release it to them to put together and repair say's a lot about thier workmanship and knowledge.
Much luv for Neptunespeed.
