Is it worth owning an FD?

Hey all! I'd like some good opinions on the FD cars. I have an 88 TII right now, but, I been so very drawn towards getting the so sexy styled 3rd Gen.7 My question is, How is the FD in terms of reliability? I mean, I have heard that the FD is a little more problematic and fussy. Is there any factory flaws or bugs if any? compared to the FC?

my understanding is it's just more expensive and problematic to fix things in the fd because of how cramped the engine bay is.

Depending on what you find makes a big difference. If you find a low mile FD you shouldn't have to worry too much about many problems, except for little things here and there. i bought my FD about 7 months ago, and have kept up on services and have been doing mods here and there and it was very reliable for me. Now it is torn down in the drive way waiting to get some crazy **** done to it. But all in all they are pretty reliable. one thing I notice though and have here alot about is the engine bay tends to get pretty hot and there are some problems with it. But all cars have their drawbacks. but they are great cars.

i think the car is worth it! theres no other car like it! yea it has its drawbacks but doesnt everything in life. heat is one problem. nothing that a downpipe, a solid AST and some new coolant lines couldnt fix(and myabe a v-mount setup!!) when it comes time change out the vacuum lines. keep up the maintence and you should be fine, but when you start upgrading things just do it smart and if you can one thing at a time.

I bought my FD 2years ago. Ever since then, I'd spent over $15,000 on the car and still spending. I love my FD but if I can go back and change my decision, I would stay away from FD. I just don't think it's reliable car.

well if you get an fd,
maybe just dump 10k into it all at once and do it up right the first time.

they're really amazing cars to drive...just problematic in stock form..

I've had an FD for 5 months - just yesterday I put my foot down to hear a pop and smoke out the exhaust!!! I have been searching all over the web for help in the UK - does anyone have any pointers?

I lost all power and the car stalled - what is the problem?

Joking apart - flying guitarjunkie28 over from the States will be cheaper to do than spend on UK prices to rebuild the engine

£3,000 pounds for an engine rebuild - ouch!!!

I am compression testing over the weekend to see whether I get lucky and save some dollars in the process

cheers
