Question What do you guys think of the mazda millenia's??Thumbs up or thumbs down??

Ok I am having trouble with my RX7!! The title is all screwed!! I am going to have to get rid of the car!! It sux, but I cant keep it because I wont be able to register it!! But since I am not going to have an RX7 and I cant find a really good one around with a clean title I am thinking of getting a Mazda Millenia Its the type S with the 6 cylinder Miller cylce supercharger engine..it is a 97 and has all power and leather luxury...and is about $14,000 with 80,000 miles at a local dealership...took it for a test drive and it felt good with the new tranny and was smooth like i expexted.

but are they good reliable cars?
I heard you should only use premium fuel??

it gets 22-25 miles to gallon(street)30-35(highway)
210 horsepower
decent torque

the only thing that sux is that all millenias are auto!
but there luxury sedans so stick wouldnt be a good idea
:o ?

BUT HAS ANYONE HERE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM??
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THEM IF SOMEONE HAS HAD ONE.....THanks!

P.S. I am 18...I will definantly get a RX7 later down the road!

My wife has a 98 millenia with the regular six in it. We have had only 1 problem with it that was covered under warranty. The rear links were squeaking, the service dude said there known for bad rear links. My wife loves the car, very good gas milage no mech. problems ever and is great in the snow. I would highly recommend the car to anyone.

DUde what's wrong with RX7s??...you're only 18 and youre going to get a luxury car?..isnt that a big step up?..I like the MILLENIA S myself!..But if luxury is what you want as oppose to fun sporty cars like the RX7 then its up to you. I guess it depends on what city you live in but here in LA there are so much 7s for sale!..

Here's my other car - mazda 929. The base 929's drivetrain will last a VERY VERY VERY long time (250K). The more powerful 929S (200HP) has a 190K mile drivetrain.

If I had to buy another 929 - it would be the 1991 929S purple exterior and maroon interior. That is a VERY sweet looking car.

Yeah, nice cars!

And yes, you do have to use premium fuel, juslt like all high compression engines. The main difference in fuel grades is the amount of octane in the fuel. Octane is a knock retardent, and is measured (in north america) with the Anti-Knock Index (AKI). Regular fuel is typically AKI87, premium is around AKI92, and mid-grade (which is a mix of the other two) is around AKI89.

Boosted (SC'd or Turbo'd) engines have very high compression, and not using a high-grade fuel will cause knocking (AKA pinging or detonation) which is bad for the engine.

14K for a car with 80k. 10 would be the highest I'd go.

Yeah, the price is a little high I think. It's a nice looking car but isn't it based on the 626? I wonder how it drives compared to an Accord. I think the engine is lackluster. I expect more from a supercharged engine than 210 HP.

If I were to look at entry lux sedan, I would consider Accord V6 or Lexus ES. They provide similar HP without the supercharger.

If you are still considering sports cars, I would also consider the 'old' integra or a Prelude. Both are extremely reliable cars and easy to find in a used market.
