Tall driver issues
So, I am interested in purchasing an Rx-7, the only problem is I dont know if I would fit? I am 6'7 and have a size 17 shoe. What generation has the most room? I am also all for changing seats, seat rails, steering column, or anything else that would give me more leg and head room.
Is it possible?
Thanks

You'll have problems, your best bet is an early 1st-gen. Everything after that got more and more cramped.
I am/was 6'5 (getting shorter as I age, tho) and I found that an extended steering wheel goes a long way. I drive with a helmet on in a late 1st-gen with a sunroof. Oddly enough, the roof isn't the point of contact, but the side plastic above the door.
Apologies if you've been down this road, but have you looked into old MR2s? Those have silly amounts of interior room.
(and I could drive with a top hat on in an Ausin Mini)

My cars been down for a while but I'm confident that with a bucket seat bolted to the floor I'll fit comfortably, I've taken the time to take the sliders off my FC seat and just set it into the car and I gained a little extra room, hopefully a Kirkey/Ultrashield will give me that proper room so I can sit in a good upright driving position and not worry about my head.
But in my experience, STOCK:
SA/FB, steering wheel is too big and seat is too thick, can't fit comfortably, but physically I can squeeze in. But I do agree a first get would be the best bet to fit overall with seat and wheel mods.
FC, it's do able and I've driven a few FCs but I've gotta lean back a ways and again the stock wheel rubs more than I would consider comfortable for daily driving.
FDs, ....I tried once...never again, I couldn't even get my foot on the clutch as my knees were in the dash.
And as for AW11 MR-2s, I drove one with a stock wheel/seat and barely fit, I managed to drive it but it would definitely need seat and wheel mods to be comfortable.

I have an 05' Escalade... very roomy... lol. I too am 6'3' decent size guy.... the 87 TII definitely has more room than the 93' FD.... I really wish Mazda would have put a tilt wheel in the FD. I have plenty of room in a 1st gen as well.

Fd's are tight. 6'2 and barly fit. With a helmet on it is uncomfortable and have to slouch, and the top is still on the head liner. Need to lower the seat whidh there is some room to do...
