Swirl pot (coolant) question

Swirl pot (coolant) question
In looking at various magazines with tuned rotaries, I've seen many cars with an aftermarket coolant swirl pot mounted near the radiator cap. Some of these pots even have another rad cap on them.
According to my reading, these pots are used to extract bubbles from the coolant and then re-circulate it to the system. They are not catch tanks.
Does anyone have any installation info? I'd like to know where all the other hoses go. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic of one in an engine bay.
A search only turned up topics on fuel, people in America call them fuel swirl pots...I call them fuel surge tanks???
