Read my turbo's broken fins.
If you look under the for sale section I HAD a used TII swap, well a person was going to buy it and asked about the turbo specs and upon closer inspection I noticed all but one of the fins in the turbine (exhaust) side where broken.
It looks like this:
What could have caused this? note this is not my picture but one of another rx7 stock turbo, same thing, only mine has one good fin.

definitely an apex seal out
touching the sides would have meant in the front first and the damages is usually a peeling back at the edges of the compressor blades and would have screamed like a banshee
it doesnt mean the motor is dead.. just maybe that turbo added on after the fact ,, so would pull turbo off the block and look into exhaust port and count apex seals

[QUOTE=bumpstart;11435808]in case you are still wondering why i would know this--
Dam, nice pictures thanks, it puts me to ease a bit.
I bought this swap used on got a good deal a whole swap with wiring, ecu, tranny, maf, ignitors etc. for US $800.00 I was going to sell it because I sold my FB.
After seeing the turbo though I wouldn't be able to sell it to some one, I'll just keep it and rebuild.
I did pull the spark plugs and with a bright flashlight I looked at all the apexes of the rotors and it appears all the apex seals are in place, I then dropped in some oil and turned it by hand to keep it lubed and rust free. It did "Pop" while turning by hand and seemed to have good compression on all but one of the rear rotor faces, that being said it did sit in a garage for over a year, so maybe the apex seal is jammed in the groove.
I will try and remove the turbo and manifold, take a close look and post the results and pictures.

We need some one to come up with a good method of re-chroming or surface prepping the housings or just make new housings....It's a dream worth pursuing.
