Probably a Simple 13B Question
Can you take a 86-88 or a 89-91 13B NA and strip all of the electronics and Fuel injection off of it and run it as a standard carburated engine?
This would eliminate needing the ecu or any other sensors, right?
I would like to run a rotary in a Lotus, but not have to deal with the electronics associated with the newer cars. Emissions is not a concern in my area.
Thanks in advance for the info.

yes ... the only obstacle that you might face is the fact that carburetor kits for the 6-port 13B are nowhere near as numerous as the 4-port engines. i may stand corrected, but i can only think of 3 systems, 1 of which is no longer available BRAND NEW.

yes u can put a carb on any engine that is normally fuel injected. If u have a hard time finding the carbed intakes for the 6 port, u can use a 4 port intake and get the adapter that allows a 4 port intake to be used on a 6 port engine.

I've seen intakes for 6-ports on ebay that will let you use and IDA carb. Used Racing beat setups are available on ebay and www.thepartstrader.com. All the formula Mazda open wheel cars are using carbs on a spec 6-port engine.

Sure can. Racing Beat and Mazdatrix both sell a 6-port kit to put a Holley Carb on a 13B.
Your only problem with deleting the EFI is going to be lighting the ignition. You'll probably want to find a 1st gen distributor/ignition setup.
Best of luck! Remember to post the pictures of your project when you get a chance.
