Do i need to rebuild my engine?.....

i have a 90 tII motor and im already set to put on my upgrades which im expecting to be in the 300+ range(which i found out from guys from this forum)... my motor has 86k+ miles on it but still without leaks or whatsoever.... now my question is, do i have to rebuild my motor before dropping in all my upgrades?... and thats including the turbo.... i would be happy to have my car pushing 300+, yet still be confident that im not gonna blow my motor in just two weeks of daily driving..... any help will be highly appreciated since this is my first rotary project.... thanks again to all the good people here in this forums and keep up the good work of helping us rotary noobs make our wankel dreams come true...

depends on your upgrades, what size turbo, how much boost your gona run. I would say dont rebuild (but I havent even touched a turbo yet). I gehss some might say that you could get thicker apex seals etc... but I would see how much the stock seals can handle.

BTW: How much boost can the stock seals handle, any body know?

Yea its all about the boost! If you run around stock boost you'll be fine but if your intentions are to go out and be the guy who can smoke his tires the longest, then a seal upgrade is advised.

Maybe you should get a compression check done before you do anything first. That way you can at least have a sense of what the health of the motor is like.

There are plenty of people running stock seals and running high boost.... Most people will tell you 3mm seals are not needed.

As long as you have the proper fuel injectors, pump, ecu, and tuning, the stock seals will hold more boost than you'll ever throw at them in a street car. As stated above, get a compression check and go from there.

here are the list of my upgrades and planned upgrades.... i just wanna make sure that itll be safe for my engine to install all the upgrades and be running just a little higher than stock boost( maybe for the weekends) ... i already have the turbo btw.... all my planned upgrades including the turbo itself is all on hold coz im thinking of having the engine rebuilt and while im at it, probably give it a mild street port.... but if my engine would still be able to hold out given around 9psi of boost, then ill go ahead and push through with the turbo install and the upgrades.... and have the rebuild later on together with the porting.... now back to the topic, with this list, do i need a rebuild or i could i still run around with my 86K+ miles engine?....

upgrades i have now:
255lph walbro fuel pump
aftermarket front mount intercooler
aftermarket intercooler piping
an old school racing beat cat-back exhaust w/ downpipe and mid
clutch masters stage 1 street clutch
greddy type rs bov
greddy t-timer
greddy fcd
apex-i super afc
hks racing intake w/ filter

turbo:
T04 " O " T3/T4 .70
A/R TURBINE HOUSING

Turbine Wheel:
Exducer: 2.54"
Mayor : 2.89"
Compressor Wheel:
Exducer: 2.23"
Mayor : 3.31"

planned upgrades immediately after i install the turbo:
new racing beat exhaust
720cc fuel injectors
an aftermarket wastegate
a boost controller
an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator
an aftermarket fuel rail
act flywheel
greddy e-manage ultimate piggy comp(will change safc)

Get the compression checked on the motor. If it comes in at about 100 psi or above on all 6 faces, I think you're fine to run 9 psi on it.

the first thing you should do as stated by "juiceh" is your compresion test. but if your going to be running high boost i would recomend the rebuild but with ceramic coated rotors there great for high boost and oil temp applications and the upgrade to your seals then this way you know exactly what your dealing with and then at the same time you can consider what type of porting you would want to go with oil pump ect but if one had the cash i think the supercharger is the way to go a good sight to check out is www.rotaryengine.com get in touch with them the can help you all the way, well best of luck to you
