Exclamation Car keeps cranking even when i pull key out??

Hey,
I went to start my rx7 for the first time in a few months. I put the key in an turned it to kick it over. I then changed my mind and turned the key back and pulled it out but the car kept cranking. I had to run around and pull the battery to get it to stop.

The starter is pretty much new. Only been used for about a month before the car came of the road. Ive checked the alternator, its wired correctly.

I reconnected the battery carefully thinking it was going to continue cranking when the power was put back on. But it didnt. However it did the same thing when I cranked it again.

Im thinking ignition switch or starter motor. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can check? and how?

Thanks alot
Smitch

Ignition switch should have cut powerto the starter when it was turned to run or off. I would be looking for another ignition switch.

Hey guys,
I solved the problem by temporairly replacing the starter motor. Ill take the other one back to the shop as its only a month or two old.

Cheers
