Can i use another car make's larger alternator pulley?
I ran into a problem with my single conversion. Everything went well except when it came to the pulleys for the air pump delete. I bought a pair here from a member and was told by some that a 31" belt would fit the average kit...wrong. I tried a smaller 29 1/4" (too small) then ordered a 30.5" (a little too big).
The waterpump pully is slightly larger than stock but the alternator pully is the stock size. Its like the pulleys were mixed mached. Its been sad to see something so stupid hold up this project...its all done but this
Well since its memorial weekend and there's no chance to have anything shipped, my question is:
- is there another car make alternator pulley that i can readily find that will fit our cars (FD) and that is larger? The stock pully is a tiny 53mm

I can get belts in 5mm increments at any autoparts store. I'm not sure where Who cares is but don't you have stores?
Next option would be to take your stock pulley to the junkyard and see what you can fit it on. I've actually used a stock airpump pulley on alternators on race cars. You won't get 12V until about 4K rpm but we never run below that anyway.

Belts will still be the easiest option. Look at your belts, you should see a series of numbers with "740" or "745" on your 29 1/4" belt and probably "775" on your bigger belt. That is the metric size in millimeters.
Find the belts between 740 and 775 and see where to go. Another option would be to make a new alternator adjuster arm or drill a new hole in it.
