bright red turbo, looks cool but i doubt it's a good thing..
drivin round town it gets alil red almost not even noticable(hard throttle&high rpms)
but on the high way fifth gears cruisin at three grand the other night, i saw the temp was coming up alil past half. so i pulled over and the ex. side of the turbo was bright freakin red( lit my sig on it cause my lighter ran out)
this can't be normal right?.... i have a racing beat down pipe, test pipe and catback
the wastegate has been bored out, and it's not running a consant lean( bounces from lean to stoich, lean to stoich)
one of the main oilcooler lines does have a pinch in it not bad but would that cause all the reddness...?
need some clear eyes!
thanks

so tried adjusting the timing, but the idle is all over the place...
the throttle body is modded dont know if that has anything to do with it the bouncing idle..
and i'm pretty sure theres no air leaks, and last time i test the tps it was in spec
gonna change the oil to the castrol 20w-50
anyone got any ideas

better, more complete info on car would help ... otherwise straight forward symptoms - hot exhaust at cruise (combustion gasses are still on fire as they exit the engine),so a lean mix or retarded timing are at the top of the list, check easiest and cheapest first... ign system is a great start, vacuum leaks will also give you the symptoms you discribed (lean/poor idle, lean at cruise but near normal WOT power), now we start to get to the harder stuff...leaking EGR, loose connections at/or failing injectors, intermittant fuel pressure, knock sensor, tps, etc... just basic good troubleshooting practices should find it...
