Question Aircare trick? Soooo close

So I have a 1988 rx7 GXL, It's in good condition aside from what i suspect is leaky fuel injectors. Reason I think it's injectors is because I have hesitation issues at 3500rpm, I read several possible reason's for it including a bunch on this forum and ruled out the grounding issue. This left me with seals or injection, I noticed I have "warm start issues" during which time the engine starts to smell of gasoline if I try to turn it over. I band-aid fixed the problem for now, before I shut the car off I rev to 4000ish rpm, then shut the car off. Haven't had the warm start issues since (suspect it helps burn any excess fuel leaking into the rotors?).

Now I'm not a car wiz, but I understand the basics. My recent attempt at aircare left me 6~ ppm over the allowed limit ONLY at idle. All the other numbers look great. My question is, what kind of small fix can I do to drop it just a smidge? I'm reading lots of different theories, and some of them seem to contradict each other...

Here's what I've seen, If you could shed some light on which one(s) might be my best bet, It would be greatly appreciated! Or if you have a better suggestion I could try myself?

1.) Clean Air Filter? (Others said remove it for the test?)
2.) Change Oil? (Some suggested thicker, I do change it pretty frequently?)
3.) Run "Husky" gas (Ethanol mix)
4.) Brutalize the car before hand (I think I did this pretty well the first time)
5.) Tank additive? someone suggested injector cleaner, while others said "Guaranteed to pass"(I'm skeptical of the guaranteed to pass stuff...), someone else said seafoam.
6.) Drop my idle? (It sits at roughly 750 I think, much lower and my engine sounds sad =/ hurts my heart to hear it like that)
7.) Run Higher octane
8.) Run lower octane (So yeah, saw both of these... not sure which makes sense.. I would think higher would burn cleaner.. but since my problem is likely too much fuel as the injectors leak a bit... might make it worse?)

Any idea's or suggestions on which one's to try? Like I said, I did research, but found so much conflicting info it's hard to know what would address my problem more directly. I plan on doing a lot of work to the engine in the near future so I'd like to squeak it by just until I can do a full rebuild (and possible street port).

steam clean your engine. (add water to intake manifold while running the engine)

cycle a few liters through the engine

change fuel filter (if it needs replacing)
