1977 REPU 5 speed transmission?

I just installed a new clutch in my 77' REPU and need to re-fill the 5 speed transmission with fluid. Now I see the pipe plug in the side of the case and assume that that is the overflow plug, But I am not sure where to start filling the case itself. If anybody can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
JD

welcome to the board.

i don't have a Type R tranny, but my guess is there should be a drain on the bottom of the main case.

whether i turn out to be right or wrong, you should download a copy of the FSM from foxed.ca

Fill through the shifter hole. You can do that on ribcase trannies. Take out the side fill plug too so you know when it over-fills, to stop adding oil. It could take up to 5 minutes for the slow thick heavy oil to start dribbling out.

or fill it through the overflow plug like you would on most transmissions.

Thanks, guys I appreciate the help. I never thought of putting it in through the shifter and since I haven't installed it yet, I wanted to get everything under the truck done first, I will try that.

Thanks,
JD
