Cool Hello RX7CLUB

Hello RX7CLUB and thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. We are full detail automotive based in Tampa Florida and specialize in the FD and Z32. We’re actually an 80s-00s JDM specialty shop but we do just about every chassis. The shop has been operating a little over 3 years and has received incredible support from the local community. We started from almost nothing in early 2019 to having outright bought a dynapack a few months ago. This isn't something that could have been achieved without the outstanding support of the enthusiast community here in Tampa and the surrounding area. With our working hours being 1pm to 10pm Monday-Friday, we have been able to work around peoples schedules in ways that no one else can.

We have reached a point where we’re able to offer products that we wish were readily available in the FD market or even available at all. We’re also looking forward to offering different solutions than what's currently available. Its wild to think that this chassis is about to creep over 30 years old and we as a community are continuing to develop and innovate the platform. We feel privileged to be able to add in this continued support of one of the greatest sports cars ever made.

The past 3 years have shown us quite a bit as far as running a performance shop, scheduling, prioritizing, communication and many other aspects of this very specialized field. We take feedback very seriously and are always open to suggestions on how to improve our operation, services and products. We take mistakes and short falls even more seriously. Although we strive for perfection, it is simply not possible to achieve but our pursuit for this status will remain relentless. The Tampa community has let us know how grateful they are for how we operate and has given great feedback along the way. We invite you to read the reviews left by our past and current supporters.

At FDA, we hold customer service as the all ruling principle and foundation. We have built the shop on this concept and will continue to do so. We will NEVER be too busy to answer the phone or return a call even on weekends and holidays. We will NEVER be too busy to answer an email. We will NEVER allow communication between US and YOU fail. You will ALWAYS receive a response in 24 hours or less. Hold us to it. We believe in a proactive approach to communicating and not a reactive one. There seems to be an absolutely unacceptable deficit in this aggressively important facet of our ever shrinking community and we don’t like it.

Full detail automotive is here to stay not only as a performance shop but as a custom parts supplier. The FD is where our heart is but the z32 comes at very distant 2nd. We will be developing, innovating and improving parts for these 2 chassis and will be moving to include others as well. At the time of writing this, the world is claiming “supply chain issues”. Allow us to clarify this is both true and false but mostly false. Speaking from THIS side of things we noticed some establishments trying to ride that wave as an excuse for their poor service and untimely deliveries. A scapegoat to cover up their shortfalls so they don’t have to fix them. Parts are available but you have to be resourceful to find who has them and what items are ACTUALLY backordered with no or an extended ETA. We have found that there are PLENTY of alternatives for whatever is needed. There aren't many items on the market that are just outright not available anymore.

Since we intend to build an outstanding catalogue of parts with you, we make this promise: if we cant deliver in a timely manner for whatever reason, we will not collect your money and sit on an indefinite timeline while enforcing a no refund policy. Under NO circumstance will you be given false, indefinite or “soft” lead times ever at all period. We have the opportunity to produce or have produced some key items that at times can be difficult to obtain. Before we run a batch or group buy of anything in our catalogue, the materials to make them will be secured FIRST…. not AFTER. You will not be paying for something that doesn’t exist.

We have such a high respect for people that choose to be part of and contribute to communities such as this and we want you to know it in way of our service, policies and actions. We treat everyone as a person and not just an invoice or order number. You work hard for you money and to hand it over just to be ghosted or treated poorly is an egregious level of disrespect. You should expect and demand more. Small businesses only work when “we the people” make the decision to support them. Small business owners and their teams owe great appreciation for this. To claim being too busy to simply answer the phone, return a voicemail or email is a huge problem and is simply unacceptable. We appreciate the support from anyone that chooses to give it to us because we understand you had options yet granted us the opportunity. We hope to raise the bar of what is considered great service in hopes to heighten the community as a whole. You deserve better.

The team here at full detail automotive looks forward to serving the members of rx7club and the enthusiast community for as long as you will allow us to do so. We hope that you will hold us to an ever climbing standard so that we can provide the absolute best service possible. We hope that you will hold us accountable for any short falls so we can ensure it doesn’t happen again. Thank you all for your time and if you have any questions or comments please feel free and fire away….

What's your average turn around time on motors shipped to you?

Our engine room is in the process of being built so we don't do our engines in house currently. We use another rotary shop in the area so the turn around time is based on their schedule. On average its been about a week to get a motor back. We do the disassembly, cleaning and some prep work here and then hand the parts over. They handle the inspection and assembly process. Assuming the average is maintained, its about 2 weeks to do a motor start to finish. This timeline is not counting porting or any extra services and it doesn't count the shipping time for parts. 99% of the engine assembly parts are readily available everywhere but every so often there are a few things that take a week or more to show up.

Before any extended or large jobs we do an excessive amount of planning and prep to minimize handling time. Whether it be a motor or a car, we get as much as we can in hand FIRST before accepting a motor or car. Doing this allows for people's stuff to not just be sitting around waiting on this or that. It's better to have your stuff sitting around with YOU waiting on this and that instead of with us

With any rebuild, we advise everyone that rebuilds are not "just". You can take an engine apart and find a housing(s) and/or iron(s) out of spec and needing replaced. Every motor is deemed a pumpkin until it is confirmed otherwise. For this reason we don't have a set price for rebuilds. Its impossible to say if a motor is fully usable until its torn down, cleaned and inspected so every motor is a case by case basis. In addition to that, some motors require more effort to clean than other and some want colors.

We handle every job with a consultation before doing anything at all. This ensures everyone is on the same page and if gives us an opportunity to get to know who we're working with. Our goal is maximum satisfaction so personalized service comes standard. When we have a grasp on people's "-isms" it allows to better communicate and better serve everyone as an individual instead of as a whole. You'd be surprised how many people don't want to be bothered until the job is done Then there are some that like receiving daily updates and there those that are in-between.

Tuning query. Which ECUs?

Welcome to the forum as a vendor. Which ECU(s) does your tuner have rotary experience with?

Thank you. Happy to be here

The specific combination of standalone and rotary: power fc, adaptronic, haltech. He has been tuning for a while so he is familiar with just about every tuning software available. His tuning familiarity also spans the vast majority of cars and engines. If you could plug a laptop into a toaster he could get it to make the best bagel ever. He's VERY good. You can check him out on instagram..... pencil tuning

On tuning - Can you do virtual tuning on a PFC? There are no options where I live as every shop is backed up for months. I was lucky and grateful to sneak into IRP when I first bought my "new" FD in February.

I can ask. He uses team viewer for some other remote tuning situations so why not the power fc? 🤔🤔 watching the wideband may be a bit of an issue but if all else fails, he does travel quite a bit for tuning.

Yes sir, that is part of the reason. Our hours reflect real world availability of most working people. You shouldn't have to deal with the stress of getting to the shop when you work day shift. We are also available on weekends for smaller jobs, drop offs and pick ups. We tried to find a way to be the MOST available to work around people's schedules. You're bringing your car here for fun and not always for a repair so why not make it as simple as possible?

Also, our tuner is willing to remote tune a power fc but it will be tricky since he will need to see the wideband in real time. To make it realistic, going through logs isn't something that will work here. So he will need a livestream to watch the wideband.
