As long as you have some experiance with modifying cars you'll have no troubles. If you're scared to use a wrench then doing the V-mount install yourself isn't a good idea, take it to a local shop.

Something i would like just to point out is that the RHD FD's don't have rear bins, so for those with one, relocation of th battery to the rear bin is not really an option. I am interested in whether this kit would be made so it can be easily modifiable from working with the stock twins to a aftermarket single. Also will it come with a radiator? I know the HKS kit didn't. Since we aren't getting a target price, how about telling us what is the minimum cost of just the parts alone for the cheapest v-mount kit possible? That way if people don't think they would even spend that on an IC, they won't have to think about it and 'ruin' the results on the poll.

The kit will come with a custom radiator and the base price will really depend on a few different factors....so it's really hard to give just a base price like you're asking. But it would be my guess that the base price will be anywhere from $2300 to 2500 with ducting. Also the battery relocation wouldn't be to the bins, it would be to the rear hatch area, which should clear up your problem. In either case, you'll have the option to either relocate the battery or use a smaller one in the engine bay.
Depending on the single kit you'll be using you may have to have some piping custom made, which shouldn't really be that hard. It would take a lot of R&D to make piping for every single turbo kit readily available.

The Knight kit allows for a pretty large battery in the engine bay. It may even be stock size. That's essentially the thing that blocks the air from escaping on the LHD driver's side of the intercooler. My battery is relocated to the passenger bin, anyways.
A/C was retained by modifying a few A/C lines. I had a radiator shop add an extension to one of the low pressure pipes (it was one of the larger ones running along the cross brace) going to the heater core. The radiator hoses in the kit got in the way so the A/C line wouldn't mate back up to it's fitting without an extension. That most likely happened because the kit was originally designed for a RHD car where the heater core is on the opposite side. Gentle bending was necessary for the piping to the condensor core, and the high pressure lines (ones going to evaporator canister) in order for everything to fit and orient properly.
Another thing to consider in a v-mount kit: Power steering loop. Knight Sports actually tells you to cut your loop in a certain way so that it still fits nicely behind the radiator. I, however, used an AFCO transmission cooler, similar to AgentSpeed and Kinetik_FD3S's setup. So, this kit should at least address that in some sort of way.
And, yet another thing to consider: Piping. To GReddy elbow or stock? And piping from stock y-pipe or DIY for your setup? And, for that...does it retain the airpump? One reason I like the Knight kit is that it retains the airpump and mates to the stock y-pipe. Though, others may disagree. Yes, the Knight kit only goes to the stock elbow, and yes, I had to get a pipe fabricated to use the GReddy elbow. I'm sure many people will be fabbing their own piping for the intercooler, depending on their setup. However, some sort of standard, or default could make the kit more accessible and appealing, especially to the twin-turbo brethren.
And...lastly: Radiator feed and returns. The Knight kit utilizies a MASSIVE multi-pass, Ron Davis core, radiator with feed and return fittings on the "top" of the unit. I like it.
Ok, one more thing: AST bracket provision. The Knight kit's rear intercooler bracket (side closer to engine), also doubles as a bracket for AST installation. I, personally, don't use an AST anymore. So, this didn't apply to me, really.

FDeez, you have to realize this kit has been in development for quite some time now and all of that has been addressed. It's just a matter of putting everything together. for people who have PS there will be the option to use a PS cooler, the stock hoop will not be utilized. Everything you have mentioned has been thought about and addressed. Rest assured that this kit will allow you to retain everything the stock car does. R1 cars will require an oil line relocation kit, PS users will require a PS cooler kit, A/C users will require an A/C relocation kit. If you want something done right you have to make some changes, but everything will bolt on. There shouldn't be any huge modifications necessary.
Also the KS v-mount does not retain the stock battery.

quick question.. is the radiator it comes with better than the koyo or fluidyne? because i just got a fluidyne not to long alot and wondering would i be able to use that? or would it maybe be to big or something? never really thought about that much till now

That is a tough question. What makes one radiator better then another if they both do the job and cool the same? I'll put it this way, the quality of the radiator will be as good as that of Koyo, PWR or fluidyne.

Well most likely the radiators will be modified in some way or designed specifically for the application so I doubt an oem mount aftermarket upgraded unit will work with the v-mount kit. Seems fairly obvious that alterations are necessary such as mounting brackets and possibly even changing the inlet and outlet locations.

Correct The radiator that will be included is not an modified OEM replacement, but a totally custom built radiator, specifically for the V-mount

question.... if u spend $500 on the custom radiator.... why not just get the Ron Davis Mazdaspeed one... same price.

Answer.... Because another couple hundred would need to be spent modifying it to fit with a V-mount correctly....not the same price by far.

Guys, as much as I love the feedback, I think we're a wee bit past that stage now. We're already working on completing the prototype, and we've pretty much thought of everything. So I'd appreciate your patience at this point...we'll post up again when the kit's completed and open to sales.
