Can Someone Decode this JDM VIN for me?

*Short Version*

What info can you tell me about the VIN of this JDM car:

FD3S- 113664

What spec is it? ( RZ RS etc) and what year the car was...

*long version*
i found a JDM FD front clip Locally that i want to use to swap into my FD to get it back on the road again...

it's very clean and bonestock and looks quite promising..

I have a feeling it's a Series 7 (96-98) but i'm not quite sure

it has bilstein Shocks and the AST looks a little diff.. as well as the a/c logicon and the location of the dimmer switch.... ECU also looked different then ours.. had a small nippon Denso sticker rather than the usual GIANT N351 stickers u see on our cars...

it's deffinately not a 99 Spec tho... (face still looks similar to our US spec ones)

I was too distracted to take pics (stupid me)

as the numbers part start with a 1xxxxxxxx it is a 1st version car, so a series 6 made from oct91 to jul93

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=804

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=836

as it is after 113115 it might be an RZ with 2 kevlar bucket seats. but as it's quite few hundred after that it also could be an X, with leather seats and cruise control, an R, or an S

i don't have access to the japanese mazda dealer program that would tell more

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=845

should have chrome surround gauges and shouldn't have the 2 pipe subframe under the diff that FD's got from version 2 onwards

dimmer switch should be in standard position, if it's the stock ecu it will have the 180kph speed cut

eric e

is quite a late version 1 but still a version 1

would have left the factory with the painted dash and door panels and not the bare plastic crinkle finish that was used from version 2 cars onwards, often replaced with later parts by now

will have the 101?type ABS unit under the bonnet

probably have the silvered surround on the speedo gauges ing around the

will not have the 2

Thanks eric,

i'll try to snap some pics of the car in the near future... so u can get a better idea

is the engine a direct swap into mine? or will there be some differences mating it to the USDM wiring+ ECU?

I'm living in the middle east at the moment...little island called Bahrain..

but there's a large amount of containers that come thru here with Front clips and engines and such.. for quite cheap also...

it's easier finding an engine than it is a Chassis to put it in...

RB20's and Rb25's are dime a dozen
to the point where they consider them disposable..

stock RB20 with bolt ons tons of Nitrous.. change the engine before the next drag night.. no big deal... only $500

1J and 2JZ's are everywherreeeeee... (from $700-$1,200)

I even saw a beams 3SGE from an RS200 (but that one was pricey tho @ $2,000)

but rotary has no popularity here (u know the usual ignorance)

they're all about 1/2JZ and RB20/25/26... 4 bangers are considered "weak"

in the whole country theres 2 FC's (i own both)

and there's 3 FD's (I own 1, one isn't street legal, and the 3rd is blown just sitting around)

I bought a 91 FC Turbo II Front clip recently cost me $1,400 (considering it came halfway aroudn the world +duties and his profit margin that's not bad)

you can see more details about the mods and such here: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=628113

the same guy imported an FD front clip for me..

he's asking $2,100 for it.. that includes the 4 bilstiens and the drive shaft also..

i'm considering buying it.. just for the massive spare parts for a unique and rare car... (spare tranny, fenders, hood ,twins, bumper and all the other stuff)

shipping stuff on my own is damn pricey ($13 per 2.2 lbs)

so sometime this week when i'm free, i'm going to connect an external fuel pump and see if i can Fire her up.. like i did in the FC...

as above

the japanese version number is the 1st of the numbers

so that car is a japanese version 6 FD (or a series 8 RX7 outside of japan)

knowing it is a version 6 you can go to these pages, (8 pages with some translation here)

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=858

that number when put into a dealer computer will also give the production date/model/mazda service history etc. but i, at least, don't have access to that info...

you can get a lot of that info from the white door jam sticker, if fitted

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=871

those stickers can usually be found on the version 2,3,4,5 but maybe not version 6 cars, (someone please correct me if wrong and if you send me a door jam pic i will send you the data i've gathered from around 6 FD's versions 1-6)

its got Leather seats, and its 2+2 with leather back seats.

I think its an RS.

i guess the version 6, last version, didn't come with a door jam sticker then....

with this firewall plate the key seems to be the JMA stamping, but i'm not at my computer with FD spreadsheet to see what other JMA's i've got listed.....

the 20P means inoccenta? blue mica paint

if the wheels are 17inch and the brake calipers pretty much fill up the space inside the wheel so a smaller wheel won't fit it must have the big brakes.....

but according to this page a version 6 RS would have fog lamps and cloth seats

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=858

17inch bbs wheels, no fog lamps and leather seats makes it look like a spirit r type b

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=859

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=861

do the wheels look like this?

but if a spirit r the seats would be red leather

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...en-US:official

sure they aren't the alacantra? suede type cloth seats?
