Shipping from the USA to Europe (Atkins)

look at this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260042505135

those are 6 small corner seals for my engine which i need. so i contacted them through ebay and asked what the shipping costs are. first i got the price for the 6 corner seals: "the price for the corner seals are 66.00 USD for each set...". ok, fine.
second, the price for shipping the 6 corner seals:
"Shipping Express mail to you is $40.00.... Later"

$40 dollars to ship 6 little and light iron parts from the States to Europe???
anyone else experience with shipping from the US to Europe? i think those shipping costs are EXTREMELY high. absurd?

Ive noticed that the price is high because they have to go trhoug a lot of " hassle" to give it a name.....

However you will have the parts at home the day after tomorrow. You might want to check out USPS.com to find out normal shipping cost

normal price at USPS for international shipping to Europe

Global Priority Mail - Flat-rate Envelope (Small) - 4 - 6 days - $5.25
Global Priority Mail - Flat-rate Envelope (Large) - 4 - 6 Day - $9.50

Both big and small envelope will take as much as you will fit in it and has 4lbs (about 2kg) weight limit.

Express shipping rates are crazy, (Fedex,UPS,DHL, all)
For the same amount of money and with tracking, you can have a box with 25 Kg of parts shipped to europe, but it will take 10 (working) days

i always try to use USPS or the cheapest trackable shipper like UPS/FEDEX/DHL

Unfortunally most companies will not ship that way because of the contracts they have with the shipping companies

Hey let me know if you need some help with that Andreas. I would be willing to bet that it would be cheaper to have them sent to my APO then I could mail them to you and it would still be cheaper than shipping them directly to you. Just a thought.......

Well, it's not like they are ripping you off Andreas. I ordered a gasket and a sticker from Mazdatrix and payed over 50$ for shpping (don't remember the right price) I got the UPS invoice for all that, and that's just the price. What's more: I had to pay EXTRA (on top of what Mazdatrix had already billed)for shipping to UPS belgium (on top of import duties, VAT, charges to transfer VAT to the state...)

I noticed it was expensive when I asked for the rebuid kit.

I'm going to have things shipped from Japan directly. Andreas, you can still contact me about doing something together. I just think I can get the OEM selas from Japan, nothing 'special'

Considering the exchange rate i'm supprised by this bit of info. Not meaning to hijack but do you have any links to some distributors in England? So anything mazda in Germany is crazy spensive. (Not just on base or surrounding area)

the most oem mazda parts are same price in usa and germany but in usa its 50dollars and in germany 50 euro...

thats currently
50 US Dollar = 37.85183 Euro
50 Euro (EUR) = 66.04700 US Dollar (USD)

i needed some time ago the gasket between the stock s4 turbo and downpipe...i payed 60 or 65 euro for it.
mzdatrix sell it for 50 or 55 dollars.
thats the half price what i pay in germany

For thoes of you that are outside the USA/Canada I am willing to ship cheeper than what I show on E-bay. However you have to ask me here on this forum and NOT on E-bay as I dont know who you are there..where I have somewhat of an idea here of who you are...

Andreas : I will be willing to ship the Corner seals useing USPS Global Priority for 20.00 and that will cover the pay-pal fees that I am hit up with....

Also dont ask me for a tracking # of anykind as I wont have one.... where if I shipped express mail I would have something, plus I am trusting you to let me know if you fot it...

The ONLY parts I wont ship USPS is over sized items and compleat rebuild kits as I have dont want to take a chance on you saying you did not get it, even though I know you did .. been there done that...

FYI I will be out of the ship from 12\23\2006 till 01\03\2007 so that means I will not be able to check my PM's here on this forum..

Hope this helps you guys\gals out, and I will do my best to be fair with shipping prices for you guys...

Later
Dan Atkins
