Racecar update

Hi Boys
Been awhile since I last posted anything usefull.

I have been very busy with the racecar.
So have Oliver every time he could find a few hours in his busy scheduel.
He made a new wing for it, unfortunately I havent taken a picture of it yet, but I promise You that its badass and not very stealth like
It looks something like this but just a tit more vulgar
http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/1stgen/manu...rochure-13.jpg
Oliver also modified the TWR frontspoiler and Of course he will say "sure Ill do it" when we need a fiberglass vented hood

Here is a few of the car when I saw it for the first time...
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/racecar%20(14).jpg
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/racecar%20(8).jpg
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/racecar%20(1).jpg
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/racecar%20(7).jpg
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/racecar%20(9).jpg

Unfortunatly the motor have had an accident, the front rotor ate a piece of housing and all sideseals on one side was stuck, I was told that it might have been overreved, which sounds about right due to the missing RPM cable.
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/badpphouse.JPG

While the motor was out we decided to clean it all and paint it with white radiator-paint(strong) Plus its easier to spot any oil or waterleak on a white surface
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/PICT0887.JPG

Since finances were low from buying the car it was not an option to get new MFR PP rotorhousings so I put my spare bridged FC 6port motor together and gave it the drysump pump setup from the racemotor.

http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/tempmotor.jpg
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/tempmotor1.jpg

Going from EFI to Carb is easy if your not a cheap bastard like me.
A manifold was fabricated to fit the6port motor and the 51mm IDA Weber.
http://64.9.213.132/rx7club.com/foru...hmentid=101599

The "dashboard" needed new gauges as most of them were mechanical, i didnt like the idea of having oilpressure inside the cabin.
I used the original dash to mount the gauges. When ever possible the original equipment will be refreshed and reused.
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/dash.JPG

The intermistic headlights looked like **** and had to go.
Here is the rough setup.
In the second picture You will see my daily driver AKA Retroyota HiAss.
My Fc was sold to get some money for the project. Sacrifices had to be made I still miss my FC
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/PICT0933.JPG
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/PICT0934.JPG

Whoever worked on this car before had mounted a BMW EFI pump(6bar) to feed the Weber, it litteraly poured gas out the exhaust and is replaced by an Holley Blue electric pump.
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/pump.JPG

After assembling the differential(not funny) time was spend sanding and filling the bodywork, its clear for everybody that im no pro at it, but this is a racecar so no big deal about the few screw ups.

When done it should look like this Mx-3 which races in the same class that this car will(Special Saloon) We have teamed up with this local guy in order to make everything cheaper on racedays, he also helped alot with parts and stuff.
http://dmka.dk/foto/april05/IMG_4330.jpg

Back from the paintshop and into the garage where she belongs
BTW Black paint shows EVERY little spot or dent
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/newpaint.JPG
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/newpaint%20(1).JPG

Due to the not so well alligned twin plate clutch it was kindda hard to get the motor in, we ended up with taking the gearbox out and put it together, then took it apart and put the throwout bearing in and put it back together again
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/newpaint%20(3).JPG

Motor is in, I had to make new motormounts because i "forgot" wher i put the old ones(Do you see a pattern here)
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/newpaint%20(5).JPG

Reassembly has begun, this is the slow part of the project. Whereever necessary Nyloc nuts are used so things wont come apart.
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/reass.JPG
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/reass%20(1).JPG
http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/reass%20(2).JPG

Getting closer to the startup of the freshly rebuilt engine, though we still need a fuel cell, it should be on its way from the states as I write this.

One more thing before I go to sleep....

Higgi,
Kim has really put in some long hours to bring this RX7 back to life on a limited budget. He's going to have a blast with this thing! We have taken a few short cuts in the hopes to get a couple of races in 2005. It could be a hit or miss on the track this year but we NEED track time so we can give it 110% next year, hopefully with the PP motor.

I have been in the States, so this is the first time I have seen the updated photo's...
was hoping to see the old school type wing on the car.... I think it might be a bit big!......crossing my fingers it will both work and stay on the car...ha!... we will see

Hey Kim, what did you use for inner water seals (the black one at this pic http://www.wankelkim.net/rx7/fb/rebuild%20(2).JPG)?
Lots of good work done!

Oh aha!
Obviously it would not be a bad idea to have my spectacles when looking at pictures.
Have you used the RA apex seals also?

That wing looks nice and functional. So far I'm in total awe of your project. I just wish I had the coin to do up my humble solo car as well.

The type wing was used back in the 80's. I just made my own version...
If we ever get tha car on the track, then we will see if it stays on or goes in the garbage. I hope it will stay on!!!

Anyway, really hope you can make the trip to Denmark... I am sure we could use a extra hand for the 4 hr enduro.

Hopefully soon, but the Weber needs rejetting, it floods the engine real bad even at 3 psi fuelpressure, also I did a comp.test the other day it showed 4bars on both housings??? Ok its been resurfaced and all new seals, but 4 bar still sounds kindda low.

Anyway I ordered a Megasquirt fuelcomputer yesterday, I wanna try it on the race engine. If its no good ill just save untill i get a seven oneday again.

If you got new seals and resurfice , it can take a while for compression to build up, my TII's new engine has 175 Km on it and compression is already going up
