New tires

I got these new Toyo tires finally today (Proxes T1-R) I can surely recommand them
Price is not that high like Pirelli Pzero's and i like the performance in wet better of Toyo's in general.

What the experience of other Rx-7 drivers with tires? I'm a fully Toyo addict , because of their performance in the rain.

I have Bridgestone Potenza's, but don't have that much experience in the rain. I tend to avoid rain, and drive carefully when I get surprised. Other than that, I mainly ended up with those tires because they were easier to get. I actually wanted Michelin in 255/45/15 (Michelin is the only firm still making that size) for the rear, but at 250€ each and 8 weeks delivery time, I wisely got 225's and went for Potenza's

I've got fulda extremos 225/40/18 in front and 235/40/18 on the rears. No complaints about them, not to expensive and great grip in wet conditions, I drive mine daily, so I see lot's of rain... ('-')

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 here, 225/45/17 and 245/40/17. They were not cheap, but i have not complainst. Even the wear doesn`t seems to be bad (one set should last season - fronts used on about 10 trackdays, rears pretty much only on street). At sosnova rears last only like 15 minutes

i drive the Potenza's S-03 but my heart is with the Advans but those are very expensive

I have run my Bridgestone S-03 on the track once and I was very happy with the performance.
Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to test other tires brands on your list to compare. I would think any of the top 5 or 6 tire brands are good enough for our needs for street and a few track days. Tire prices here (Denmark) can really swing, so it also has a big decision which tire someone may purchase.

I have always been a big S-02 supporter. Never tested it though. Just from what I heard from various drivers. If I did not work for the importer, I was going to install Toyo T-1R. But now, after the results I cannot wait to test the Maxxis MA-Z1. Of course I will give my personal opinion and maybe some timed results.

When I bought my old FC it had those tyres, even though they were "broken in" they still managed to do 110 in a 90 degree turn.

Kindda scary but they managed

I got 4 of them for 400 euro's total, complete with balancing ect.

I do not care for dry performance of a tire, i only look for rain performance in combination with the price/quality.

I'm not doing extreme crazy things with the car (according to my standards ), and i 've always have had very positive experience with Toyo and wet conditions and their price/life is good.
But i heard great stories about the Bridgestones indeed. but the bridgestones would have cost me +- 200 euro's more

On my trackcar i only want semi-slicks, like the Advan A032r or Advan A048

You can see here the better wet results of the MA-Z1.
If you were a customer in Greece you would have got the tires complete for 380 euros. Which is pretty good since the Toyos are more expensive here than what you got them for.
For your track car you can get either the Advan Neova AD07 (more streetable) or the Advan A048.

Maxxis has (had) a factory here in the Netherland (Oss) , it was producing Cheng-sjin tires (or something like that, don't recall the exact name atm)
I don't have any experience with Maxxis tires, but i do know the Toyo's will last for at least 30.000 km or so. (at least my last set of Toyo's did)

So the Toyo is for me the best compromise, speaking of wet performance/costs/long-life

Actually, nothing says that a tire on one particular car will perform the same on another. Plus a lot depends on the "feeling" of the driver. If you're happy with those tires, you better stick to them, as at least you know what they are doing on your car.

@Bart, yes that's the reason i stick with Toyo, there will always be better products, but this brand has not let me down ever in anyway (not even a flat tire, fingers crossed )

I had toyo's but they were way to soft and didn't last....
Try Uniroyal rainsports they are cheap, durable and very good (in rain) as well!

We all have diffrent priorities I guess. While Mireck wants his tyres to perform good at wet, I, from the other side, I dont care less. I never drive at wet conditions...

Fanis, at the test I dont see Pirelli tyres, especially P-Zero Nero or Rosso. I am thinking of buying a set of Pirelli's for the front wheels...

Overall, Maxxis performed well, expect bracking at dry- witch is important here at Greece...

i put today GoodYear F1!
before i had Toyo Proxes.
they told me that F1 are more soft.
