New Rx-7 in Europe
Hey all.
I just bought an Rx-7 type-R -99 over in Japan, and has just finished all the paperwork getting it out on the streets in Sweden.
I have always been into Jap cars since I lived down in Australia, and this is my first car in Europe.
Pictures and info on my car will be coming up in garage section later on, if your interested.
Since I just moved to Sweden and Europe, if anyone has good tips on whereto find gatherings, events, drifts sessions or other info, please let me know. Kinda hard finding the scene up in Sweden, since jap sportscars aren't really that big...

Hi.
First : Welcome to Scandinavia.
Second : Have you opened your eyes yet? =) There are tons of events all year for streetcars, and the Jap-scene is huge. There are trackdays, drift events, dragrace, streetrace, etc.
Tell me were you live, and I'll point you in the right direction.
Oh, and if you are in Oslo, Norway sometimes, send me a PM or mail, and I'll hook you up to whatever action you want to do.
Have fun

Welcome to Sweden ! Y did you move over here to this cold country hehe
Well we have alot of events gong on here but you will not find any now in the winter time. It starts out around May. There is alot of trackdays, dragrace and streetrace here but Drifting is very hard to find. We dont have any real drift track.
Norway is bigger whit drifting.
If you know any swedish and can read in it then look to this page: http://www.wankelregistret.se
I added you to MSN so if you like to talk about rotary stuff or the street sceen in sweden then just give me a shout. I live in Malmo

Hi..
Welcome, I just want to know if the 99 model can be registret in Sweden...??
What about the exhaust emission and the chrash test and all that..??
I have heart that it could not be done, but maybe I have wrong about that..??
Nice car anyway...

Hey all! Great to hear that there are other Rotary enthusiats up the cold arctic of Scandinavia.
I live in Gothenburg, and surely I speak Swedish as well as Norwegian. After all, I hail from Sweden originally, and just spent a few years down in Australia.
Over the winter my car will spend most of its time in the garage, going over the engine as well as applying a few upgrades. Most upgrades I have looked at so far have all been over the internet. Does anyone know anyone in Gothenburg, or in Scandinavia in general, who deals with rx-7 performance parts?
Nice to hear you added my msn. I'm looking forward for when spring comes ones again, and I'm planing on heading to as many races and events as possible. Though most street races I have heard about up here are drag races. I am mainly interested in drifting, but I guess I'm just not looking hard enough. Feel free to mention it to me if something comes up.
Regarding importing a -99 to Sweden there are a few things to think about. It is true that the exhaust is a problem during inspection. I know about 2 ways to go around this. First (the one I have) is installing a fuel inhibitor module, leading to that less fuel is injected into the rotor = less exhaust. However, this is not recommended for the engine, and only apply it right before entering the test, and straight after change it back to normal.
Another way I heard of, but never done, is fueling up with around 60% ethanol mixed with petrol. This will also lead to less exhaust values, but is also bad for the engine. Thus, I would head straight to the petrol station filling her up with high octane.
About crash tests, noone mentioned anything about it to me. I belive their requirements for crashtests include only one passed test per car model. Thus, if you import an unmodified one, you should (theoretically) be ok. Though if the car is modified (and it is mentioned in the documentation), there might be a possibility they won't let it through. Thus, ensure that the pappers all say it is stock.

Just fit the stock airpump and route it directly to the cat, emissions will drop to stock values, even on heavily modified streetported FD's
Only thing that might be different, Dutch FD's pre-1993 have to pass only for Co, the younger types have to pass the 4-gas test....not sure about the result for the above methode results on 4-gas emissions testing.
Good luck!

my FD is modded with open intake, full 3" exhaust and a Pettit ECU.
with the cat fitted and the airpump directly to the cat i get 0 CO @ idle. but that was with stock engine, next engine is a streetported one. will measure again but know for sure it's 0.0 again ...
