ok, I'll do that Well, if you guys could actually make one, I would really enjoy a trip to Denmark. Just don't know how to make the mold yet. After all, it must be decent, and it's not small. Maybe you can tell me how to do this stuff myself

Make a cheap mould from a large piece of Polyethylene (PE-LD or PE-HD).

Wax it with high quality carwax or just use silicone spray if its a smaller piece.

Cut C/F cloth and apply a layer of epoxy to it. 200 grams of C/F cloth = 200 grams of epoxy+hardener.

Now have a friend (or me) help you out with laying it on the mould, be careful not to stretch the cloth as openings WILL occour. When youre done with the first layer go make more epoxy and apply another layer beeing 100% sure that no airbubbles is in between the two layers.
Lay the layers WET in WET meaning tha the epoxy must NOT harden before you got the two layers together, and make sure that you can get it done in like 30 minuttes MAX, prefereably in room temperature --20 degrees celsius.

Remember:This is the first time that Oliver and I ever did this and im pretty sure that if i ever do any lightweight stuff for my car it will be in fiberglass (Cheaper & easier).
Im thinking about makeing a sunroof-skin and cold-air headlight cover.

If its a DIY job like the one we did, you might wanna paint it afterwards, because you can see where the C/F has been stretched.

When youre done for the day, make a heat-box with some circulation and let the C/F harden for 24 hours.

Hmm, looks good for people who call themselfs "rookies"
Just how much lighter is the CF then normal glassfibre?
I'm thinking about a complete new interior, using a dash that looks a bit like the FD dash. And the doorpanels must be made too. And of course a new hood, but I'm not going to start with a piece like that...
But agian: good job guys.

I dont know about the weight-difference, but the larger piece you make the larger difference .
C/F dashboard wow that will be a big job to do, and if you like the smell of warm C/F then go ahead .
Looks like youre building a bad *** seven, i would to see it one day at the European meeting on Nurembergring *Crosses my fingers, hopeing it will happen one day*
About makeing a mould: Talk to Oliver OC94Rx7, he did the one we used for his intercooling ducting.

I'm basicly planning the (in my eyes) ultimate 1st gen. But of apart from plenty of money, it will take a lot of time. Not all the ideas I have will be actually put into the car, I'm just constantly trying to see what I could do.
I will try to get the FD engine in, though. Hope that works out... Once paint+engine is done, I'll start on the interior. Then the suspension and so on...

Kim....didn't I ask you to wait?

Since Kim posted pictures of The "carbon fiber bat cave" at least thats what he and I thought it looked like. I have some follow up photos. We both had a lot of fun trying to make a carbon fiber duck for my smic. Some moments got alittle stress full for me. "I hope you added have enough hardener" " it's stretching, it's spliting, it's opening here....etc" but Kim was calm He didn't pay for the Carbon

24 hours later. I cut most of the extra carbon off leaving enough so, I can work with it when I make the bottom peice this week. After pulling the peice away from the mock-up I was very happy with the results until I saw the seems. My little plan for the seems didn't work so good. Spent a few hours cleaning the corners up and, well it's good enough for me. I will see what I can do to fix some holes and smooth out the roughness. If far from perfect.

Like Kim said "we are rookies" and I don't think I would do this for anyone else (sorry bart) flat pieces are easy but, multiple curves takes practice and I need more of it

Again, thanks Kim for your help

Here is a veiw from the other side that Kim posted

It seems this year is going to be a bad one... at least the next few months. My friend went bankrupt (to say the least) and because of this I lost quite a bit of money.
I will be able to get some back, but it'll take about 10 months, and still it'll only be the part that belongs to the household, not my personal money (RX7 money)
Obviously all the wild plans have to be cancelled for a while. In order to pay me back something, I get a FB. But it's in parts right now. I will restore it, and then try to sell, but that might be rather hard. I also keep the RB exhaust and Mikuni carb. I will sell those if I can get enough money together to pay for the planned FD engine. Well, not with selling the carb and exhaust only, of course. But I'm not totally broke, so if I can get a decent price, I'll sell once the summer is over. Or earlier if I get a really good offer. I can also sell my very new 12A engine, 10T km only, to my dad. But obviously I cannot ask my dad the real value of the engine. Still it'd be a good start. I still have the Kuwe kit too, as it was pre-sold to my friend too, but never paid. If someone's intrested...
It's all really fucked up, as I saw my budget go down from way over 5.000 euro to next to nothing. I feel really stupid for selling the FD the way I did. I could easily have sold it for 12.000 on paper, and put 3.000 in my pockets. Cause it was my friends car, I didn't do that, as he promised me about 1.100 euro for the work. And I trusted him. But he used all of that money (15.000) to pay for other debts, that I didn't knew of...
If I'm lucky I can finally sell my motorbike too. This has nothing to do with this situation, as I wanted to do that for a while (never use it anymore), but now the money would be a bit extra welcome....

Sorry to hear the bad news Bart
I am sure we have all been where you are now (bad luck)... hope it turns for the better

If the FD engine project doesn't work out? (I hope it does!) Let me know, I might be intrested in the motor or turbos down the road.

We are working hard to find a solution! I think I'll be back on track in about 3-4 months. I hope that the engine I had in mind will still be available then... If the friend I'd buy it from decides to sell earlier I'll let you know.
Right now, my biggest problem is accepting that a very good friend has misused my thrust in him so much, and has lied that badly to me...

Thanks. I'll get by, if I'm a bit lucky I'll be back on track in August or something. I really feel sorry for his girlfriend right now. I mean she lost everything, because he made terrible mistakes, and because he lied about plenty of things. She must have such a hard time...

I know how you feel

these things happen, some people arent what they seem to be

Just get back on track and sell some stuff.

Btw, if you need any help with rebuilding the FD just let me know .

Oh, uhm, those parts you talked about (semi racing clutch and flywheel) do you still want them now? I'm guissing you dont but im asking just to be sure.

I'm gonna mail my order for RB to higgi pretty soon so let me know if you still want em

Are you going to order from RB? Remember taxes etc... And if I'm right, they don't take non-USA Visa-cards, making payment rather complicated.
Anyway, no, I do not need a clutch/flywheel right now.
I do still plan on doing the swap, but will have to sell some stuff first. And I don't want to buy parts now, and end up not using them in the end.
Parts available after the summer are: RB streetport exhaust (full exhaust, best 1st gen system available) and Mikuni carb with manifold.
Parts available now include: brand new turbo for S5 FC, never used. (never even mounted) Also: brand new Kuwe airdam and fenderflares, and plenty of smaller parts.

Don't worry, it will in the end!!! But it'll take some extra few months now... I hope to get started by th end of this year, but it might not be that easy. The whole swap is really expensive, and since about all of the budget I had planned went up in smoke, it'll take a lot of extra patience. Then again, I ALWAYS get what I want, if I'm prepared to ork hard for it, so I will succeed in this too.
Thanks for the support, cause I've been rather down the last couple of days. Not just the money/RX7 issue, but more the way I've been treated by a friend

We are going order thru RB dealer which will give us same or discounted prices and will take our cards no problem....

now I understand... how much time do I have to decide? I don't want to cause delay to you guys, but before I decide to spend money, I must be sure I can pay So I can't decide very soon... Nevertheless, if I miss out now, I asume you're going to do the same some other time again?
