Stand alone ECU ?
my car is having huge electrical problems and I am pretty sure my ecu is screwed anyways I was thinking of going to a standalone to hopefully solve my problems , what is the most reasonable one to go with ? I saw a MTX-8 for about $400 but i dont know anything about any of them so I was wondering if anyone out htere with expertise could give me a hand
thanks

theres only tow companies to go with, Microtech thats a little price like around 800 if you get a good price and megasquirt, i think there is still a group buy here for like 375 or something close to that. Rtek 2.0 is good to but i like the other two companies better thats about 400

it was acting up after a half hour or so of running, my harness has been splice quite a few times and when I moved it around my car would run erraticly .. after it was good and warm it would flood itself then I pulled the ecu out and put it back in cause it was heating up , the ecu, and when I put it back in it would only run 5 seconds and then turn itself off
not like a rough idle and die ... just run exactly the same time and cleanly turn off.... I'm stumped...

dude you need a new wiring harness. If its been spliced once let alone a FEW times you coould be shorting out the circuit. A bare wire could be touching something metal and grounding out. OR wires could be crossed. That could very well cause the ECU to heat up. Not to mention due to the fact that it has heated up, you could have smoked that as well... My advice to you is to buy a new wiring harness and an ECU (just in case). You can find them here in the for sale section all the time for around $100 for the set....
