Power FC Vs. Microtech for FD

Alright i have heard alot of stuff about both, the australians say that the Microtechs are the best, yeah yeah, put in 87' rotors to lower compression to 8.7:1, but which of the two is better. I have a power FC right now and have only run it with the stock settings, I am now putting in a T78 with a sh*t load of more fuel, 1600cc injectors, fuel rail etc. I plan on running at the most 17 pounds of boost.

So has anyone had any problems with the PFC with this kind of setup or should i be running a microtech?

Engine

I have a mild street ported engine, non dowled and i was told that with the PFC and the new turbo upgrade that if i ran anything over 12psi I would blow my engine up? Timing would be off etc. Any validity to this claim?

I cant see why that would happen unless you cant tune the ignation maps in the PFC to be safe under big boost. i dont know alot about the PFC so i cant help you there, i can tell you what ever you want to know about the microtech tho,

I have heard alot about the Microtech but mostley from down there in Australia, is that because there are no skilled Microtech people here in the US & Canada? You ar running the Microtech on a FC correct? And installing a Microtech means rewiring the car? Or is there a microtech plug and play unit?

There are skilled microtech people in the US, at the moment there are 30 microtech ecus on there way to the group buy people,
If there is a tuner that can tune other ecus he should be able to pickup a microtech in a few hours of messing with one, they are one of the simplest ecus to tune.

Im running one on a FC motor in a FB, there is a plug and play for the FD, they are just finishing off the OMP stuff now, if you wanted to run a new loom you would just rewire you motor section, you dont have to rewire the whole car,

Comparison

Is your engine dowled? The problem i have is that i need a non biased comparison between Microtech and Apexi PFC. One guy tells me that i will blow me engine but he sells microtech. If i was trying to sell a Ford i would say that Chevy's blow up after 5000miles just to make a sale. It is always good to research and try and sort through all of the BS. How does your car run? And do you have any friends with an FD over there that are running a plug and play microtech unit? If so what mods and how was there engine constructed?

Yes my engine is dowelled, as i said i have never used a power fc so i cant give you any ideas on that one,

yes i have a mate who has a plug and play test units and it runs the car perfectly, you can remove all the rats nest etc, his motor is ported, dowelled etc, with a HKS T04 turbo big FMIC etc.

the pfc will handle the mods, you will need to tune it. the pfc is actually one of the nicers ecus' it runs all the stock equipment while being fully tunable.

I'm in Vancouver Island and have raced my fd with pfc for 3 years. There is no reason it will blow your motor unless its not tuned. You can adjust anything as long as you get the FC datalogit software. I have this on my gt35/40 single and just bought a wideband air fuel meter. I will get a map started and go fron there. At the moment there are no experts here in BC. BUT a friend of mine was in Australia for 3 months and will be the Canadian distributor for Microtech. He has been trained by them last month. A mail order program is usually not the best. This would be another option but you'll have to rewire your car. The power fc just plugs in. RotaryMotorsports in Langley.

Marco?

Yes Marco is the guy who was trained, I also speak with him quite regularly and have had work done by them as well. It is funny because he is the one telling me that i will pop my engine.

Its not fair for Marco to say you will pop your engine with pfc because hundreds of people have not popped their engine with big mods. But it is a good sales pitch. Since you have pfc i would ge the datalogit and wide band and learn to do it yourself. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself wait until Marco gets a dyno and some experience and let him tune either ecu

SR Motorsports

I am having SR Motorsports tune the ecu right now and then i will do the fine tuning after it has been completely programmed by professionals.
