I need INTERACQ Software for the Purple Box
#3
My understanding is that the software is registered/bound to its hardware so it is unlikely it will work with your box. However, if it does, or if you are able to register it and get it to work, let us know, cuz I would like to find a copy also.

interacq! count me in also. apparently, it comes on a floppy disk. i might know someone that can figure out the code to circumvent the hardware to software locking interface, just need a copy of the disk.
ive done quite a bit of research on this software issue and have found that the software is not handled by efi or pfs but by a separate company which i have the info for somewhere.

Everyone seems to say that the software is bound to the hardware, so unless you buy your purple box with the software from someone I think you're pretty much out of luck.
What do you really need the software for? If you need help tuning the box I can point you in the right direction.

The software gives finer granularity maps than the hand unit, whose fuel/timing maps are only 4 by 4 data points (iirc)... I believe the software gives you either 4 by 16 or 16 by 16 points. That aside, it also offers logging capabilities and you may be able to run the purple box standalone with the software, not sure... probably some other features too, but a large part of it is to ditch that 2-line controller lcd display.

The company is called Plus 1 Micro. I called the guy today and he said it would be 250 bones for him to send me a copy. I dont think its worth that, especially for software built on windows 95. Hopefully someone can find a copy for a reasonable price.

so, did plusone micro say anything about sending the pfs box in to have it set up for the software or providing updated firmware chips with the software. did they even ask what firmware version the box was to check for compatability

No, they didnt say anything about having to see the software. I think the way the lock works is it writes the seriel number of the PMS into the disk when u install it. I dont think it has any hardware matching beyond that.

Count me in, I would love hooking up my laptop!! How can we all get something going on this?
While were on the subject does anyone have an extra jumper cable for the PFS PMC? I got a decent deal on a used box, but the guy said he didn't trust the adaper plug and soldered his in. My luck he threw the old adapter piece away.

Check your Purple box version: If you don't know what version your hardware / prom is, you can easily check this by plugging the com cable into your laptop's com port while using a terminal emulator, i.e., hyperterminal, etc., and then turn your ignition on. The PMS purple box will output an ascii text string to report its version and date during initialization.
