Question HKS fuel cut defense

Have heard this talked about here. What is the purpose of this product and why would I need one? Thanks.

You can only crank up your boost so much until the stock system will send a fuel cut the the rear rotor. (i know it's 8.6 psi limit for Fc3s)

A FCD lies to the ecu and tells it you are running less boost than you really are so it tricks it into doing the right thing

someone correct me if i am wrong

Yes spider. I have instructions for the HKS FCD, and one of the cars listed is the FD.

I'm a 2nd gen guy too. The instructions are for all kinds of cars. Since you have an E6K you'd never need to know that anyway.

doesn't that put you into a lean condition? telling the ecu you are running less boost therefore the ecu compensates less fuel? ( GLAD to have a Haltech!)

Ok but how about a FCD, an FCON and a manual boost controller? Should be well under $500 bucks and get me there. Right? Better than just running rich with an ECU upgrade? Does the FCON and FCD work together? Why yes, I am a total rookie.

Thanks 13BAce. I have an FD and I'd like to pump it up a bit but $1.2k-$1.5K is a bit steep. Can I run higher boost with an FCON using a manual boost control ( I assume the FCON has a build in air/fuel meter. Can I play wiht this stuff with out an IC upgrade?

You can run more boost with the F-CON. A manual boost controller should be ok. An IC upgrade is recommended once you start on some serious mods.

The Fcon has its own pressure sensor, so it does not matter that the stock ECU does not see the pressure since the F-con is taking care of the fuel anyway.
