Well, their marketing guys may want to address that because there is no mention of split timing or any other rotary engine support in the manual, on the website, or in the manual supplements.

On the web page it says it supports 2,3 and 4 rotor with split ignition.
The unit seems very promising.

Thanks, I found it listed under "software" on the overview page. I was looking under the ignition data in the technical pages, silly me, lol.

The Vipec is Ray Hall's brainchild from what I gather. He's saying on EFI101 that he wanted to address some of the short comings of the Autronic. As good as the Autronic is, if the Vipec is better it will be a damn good box. I emailed him about the replacement board they're showing on the website for the RX-7. Ray said it's about 2 months out and price would be $1650. He didn't directly answer my question of whether it would be US-Spec Series 6 compatible or not. He did say it would be based on the V44 (as it says on the website) and it should contain all the features of the full standalone. Believe he mentioned the standalones would be priced at $1600 for the V44 and $2250 for the V88.

When I first saw the layout it looked very familar.
Out with the old and in with the new. Now that Ray and Richard have gone seperate ways what's going to happen with Autronics. Ray and Link are in a relationship now.
The ViPec does look very interesting though.

The AEM EMS looks really good on paper too. People forget how long Autronic's line of ECUs have had to mature; I'll be curious to see how the ViPECs fare once they get into tuner's hands.

Yes , its obvious that the software is the same , but the capabilities of the ViPEC is greater . On paper it still looks better than everythig else (in the same price range of course,)out there.

I have personally tuned these systems on rotaries, and in my opinion they are better than any other system I have tuned that is in the same price range. They make the current offerings from Microtech and Haltech look silly. Tuners who are experienced with Motec and Autronic will quickly feel at home with the ViPECs. The Motec M400 would still be the pick of the bunch if budget is not an issue, but only on a full-race application where you will use the datalogging to it's full potential with I2. If you are just looking for really flexible easy-to-tune engine management then I would strongly recommend the ViPEC.

However, at the end of the day, you should follow the advise given by Crispeed and choose a system that your tuner is comfortable with. A well-tuned entry-level system like a Microtech is better than a poorly-tuned top-of-the line Motec.

Great advice, I'm sure most would agree 110%.

This thing has so many outputs and inputs its scary ! I set it up to control my two stage WI system which uses two solenoids and two WI injectors , my intercooler sprayer , the solenoid on my accusump , boost control by the gear with a separate map to limit boost against a/f ratio , an rpm against oil pressure limit , and a lot lot more !!!! I cant wait to get it done . I have so far arranged the two harnesses , making two complete ones and I have terminated over 100 wires and I am still not done !!
