Bang For Your Buck ECU

Bang For Your Buck ECU
I want to know what everyone thinks the best ECU is for the money it costs. I know the more expensive ones will be overall better. The ECU's that I'm curious about are the... Wolf 3D, Haltech, TEC II, Power FC, HKS P-FCON, Pettit Unlimited, M2 Unlimited and the PFS PMC. If I missed any, please feel free to add your opinion about it.

well half the ecu's you have on there are piggyback ones or modified stock ones. i think for best bang for your buck would have to be a sds system. they are like 600 and are programable, not like a haltech or have as many features but its the best bang for the money.

Haltech is not the best best ecu but it is the best bang for the buck.
I had to replace my old brittle 88 harness and the haltech was the best solution at the time. It used the flying lead harness and made my own connections.
The car works better than ever and there is no more hot start problem. No more band aid like super afc, itc, boost controller, fcd or stupid gizmos.

I think the powerfc is the best bang for your buck, and haltech is 2nd and suited for more serious tuners. When I used the powerfc I was very pleased with just pluggin it in and gaining a much better ride. I eventually bought a haltech to take advantage of better features for my setup.

hmm strange that RICE RACING manages a reliable 590HP outta his 13B with Autronic controlling the show, its also the fastest street car around one of the aussie circuts

That is a strange call. It is general knowledge in Australia that MoTeC and Autronic are pretty much on par with each other as being the best ECU you can buy for your car. They probably wouldn't be in the running for "Bang For Your Buck" though as they are both quite expensive.

btw, why so many votes for PFC? Haltech should be number 1. PFC is just really a plug and play ecu with not that many features as the haltech which is more advanced and overall better ecu.

If youare into 1/4 mile racing, you can't go past Microtech for bang for buck.
Or if you simply want a good cheap ECU, these are the go.
I would personaly spend more money and go Haltech, but if I couldn't aford it, the Microtech would be my first choice. After all, they were designed and built with rotaries in mind.

Hey! Thanks good read
The MTX-8 does not have all the bells and whistles of the Haltech
But does have all the features I need.
I was also looking into the Hawk EC21 but that ECU lacks Turbocharger Features. It does have a killer software interface tho
What comes with the MTX-8 when you purchase it?
Lap-top version sounds good btw
also what good options should be bought with the ECU
Bosh coil packs or use The Stock series 4 coils?
thanks

i was just down at microtech and had a good chat about the new version and it is a lot more tunable, there are 2 modes it can run in, 1 mode is handset mode and the other is full 3d laptop version.
i can supply a computer for you if you have no luck getting hold of anyone else, microtech are 5min down the road from my work. the prices i got today are as follows.
MTX8 ECU au$1095
Bosch HEC 715 coils au$200 for all 4
Upgrade and interface for 3D au$200
not exactly sure if the 3D units are on the market yet but can upgrade unit to be 3D, if you require more info i can call them for you
