Who's going to XDC Irwindale?
There's a good number of AZ guys going out. I think at least 5 drivers.
Me and my Roommate are towing out one driver sometime thursday.
Drifting, cali beaches, and drinking! Party time!

damn I havent been on here for a long time. Been busy with work..
Somehow I was able to finish my car and pass tech!

It was a crazy weekend..On friday my battery and driving suit did not pass tech. One of my pit crew members drove all the way to cerritos then to glendale to get a gel type battery and driving suit at dj safety.
After passing tech, I drove for practice and my turbo blows up. Me and the pit crew members swp to a backup turbo.
Practice went well, although because my bad eye sight, i cant gauge the inner bank wall I was stuck with all used tires from all sorts of different brands from 215s to 255s 17s and 18s.... I couldnt afford new tires, so I took used tires from work[ thanks to all the bmw, and porsche customers]
Saturday came, and I qualified 13th place. I found myself surounded by cars with v8s and over 400+whp.. My 300whp@16psi seemed too slow compared to other drivers. Rene Franco came by and plugged in his laptop and brought the fuel cut up to 25psi, and Kristian my pit crew man, cranked the wastegate stiffer. We set the boost all the way to 22pounds.
During practice tandem I was able to keep up with most cars One run we tried255/40/18 continetals @60psi cold ina tandem with foresst ****, then after initiating , the rear end was not grippy enough and crashed into the upper bank. We only had 25 minutes to replace the front tierod, lca, balljoint, and re adjust toe on the rear subframe. Thanks to kelvin arreolla, he had a spare lca. After it was fixed and eye balled alignment, i pulled up in line next to George v8 fc Although my steering wheel was crooked and shaking in the straight away, I did not give a damn and just floored it and drove it 120% We duked it out the first battle and I thought I had it because I saw him straighten out behind me,but I heard the crowd say one more time. The xdc officials didnt give me a chance to cool down my car, and told me to pull up in line. So we went at it again, his car was so fast down the straight, i had to catch up on the turns. It was fun After the battle my engine blewfrom overheating. Georgge was nice enough to help push my car, whata cool dood. He said 'man you gave me a run for my money!"
SO yeah that was the epic weekend.. Everything was put toegtehr last minute, and didnt even get to drive the car before this event. Im proud that my car qualified and thanks to my pit crew for the gangsterness.

Had a blast. I was pit crew for Ben kunk in the Orange S13 coupe.
I've got a little video but my camera's battery crapped out right at the top 16 runs.
Haven't pulled it yet.
Congrats to George, He pulled 3rd place.
Here's some awesome close ups of his runs.
See you guys here in AZ soon.

Dk, you should get tuned by ceasar when you come down for round 2. You have a E8 right?
Im sure with more volume of fuel (-8 from fuel pump) you can make reliable power and safely. I think your fuel setup is blowing your engine.
I recommend an aeromotive a1000 and surge tank

well you have to expect to blow a motor when you just crank on the wastegate and up the pressure to 22psi without any tuning or compensation at all.
i agree though. im running 044 and fire hose 1600cc injectors for 350hp setup.

but idndt blow any seals this time. I actually overheated it because the officials didnt let me get a cool down lap, just kept going after the first race, we had a one more time and they didnt let me cool down. SO now all my springs are flat. The other times i blew was because either the bearings, water seal or one time it was a apex seal. lol
yes my car does seem slow. I need more powa

i cant find the FD rulebook to even see, but i believe it has to be fully loomed with hardline to be exposed. the fuel cell has to be firewalled, and most new fuel cells come with anti-spill technology in the event of a roll over anyways.
i could be wrong, and it may all need to be sealed but XDC has had cars running with -AN hose chillin in the trunk of S13 hatches before....

Honestly DK, you need to make a better/ more solid car before you waste more money doing xdc.
It's great that you're getting REAL experience from competing but every time I've seen your car, it breaks.
Take a few events off and save some cash for decent motor, ducting, and tuning. Then you'll be a threat to these guys.

atleast go back to stock if you want consistent runtime.
Mazda invested millions of dollars into R&D on these motors/chassis setup. trust me, it's not bad.
charge hard, and you got it. you can't win anything when **** keeps breaking. i know this too well as does alot of other people on here.
breaking my car @ round 3 pro-am was the nail in the coffin for 2011 FD hopes for me. i should've realized that before investing $3k+ more driving events and threw that at my car to unload this year with a proven setup (which im desperately still trying to do) but since i didnt stop, and sit back, i'm here, telling you to explore the option, and think about it long term to help you, since no one sat down and talked with me about it..
build the car. do some testing. play around with a few alignment setups, and most of all, have fun, and HOPE your car makes it through an event. if it DOES, then you'll have piece of mind, and be able to concentrate more on driving, and not worrying.
confidence in a proven setup, and tons of tires = winning.
charlie sheen has 2 blonde lesbian wives. that also = winning.
spending all your money to go "make an appearance" at an event to get coverage = losing.
your call..
