Use brake cleaner or ether based engine starting fluid, first spray around the tire but not on it you want to hit the inside of the rim not the face or tire and then you light it with a match and it explodes it onto the rim due to the combustion and no where for the exhaust to go, use a long match on a yardstick if you think you are gonna blow yourself up, also stack weights on top the rim so it doesnt fly into your face.

Worst analogy ever. F1 cars have WAY better rules the drifting. (not better in the sense of makes sense, but better in the sense of regulated stuff... im not saying the are good or bad rules, just the regulation is better) The tires are regulated like that.

Also that was in response to another ignorant post describing how drift cars dont have enough power to spin the properly sized tires. Also the analogy makes perfect sense. Reason being that there is a reason for both groups to have the tires they do.
The more I think about it .......how much travel does a F1 car have.....really the car body is about 2 inches off the ground. It is all relative the the type of driving you are doing.

I think F1 cars scraping the burms and throwing sparks everywhere steadily hauling *** (since winning the race is more important than how pretty their undercarriage is) is bad ***. And in my book being low enough to throw sparks on burms is winning.

Ive got 235/40s on 9x17s on the front, and 265/35s on 10x18s on the back, not much of a stretch on my FC, but it needs all the grip it can get if want to go sideways fast.
For practice days etc I got 9.5x17 and 9.5x18 (all for the back) and run whatever I can find/afford, so more of a stretch then, 225/40s are the most common to find, but I take what I can get...
I build a lil Volvo 364 a while ago just for fun, running -32 (yes, minus 32!) 10x13s, and I had 195s on that, now that was a stretch.

Oh, forgot to mention pressures, it shows how much grip they go for at a competing level, the fronts on the FC had just 21psi in them, rears 25.
To be fair ive seen top drivers drop under 20psi in competitions, but was worth mentioning either way.

Can you legitimately say that it doesnt? Having a tire that's too big is just as ineffective as having one that is too small. It all depends on your susp setup and how it's being used/your driving style. Most people who have stretched tires arent drag racing or road racing or autox'ing, they're either cruising around or drifting. Stretching tires creates a firmer sidewall thus less slip angle, less slip angle means quicker reaction from your tires as well as a more abrupt and predictable loss of traction which alot of people prefer in drifting. Of course there's a happy medium as there is with everything, but this is all personal preference and has little to do with what other people think is the "right way".
Besides, that **** just looks better than some fat *** balloon tires on some 4x4 "race car" anyway.

tire stretching started in europe in the modded car scene over there. not sure which country exactly, but local laws required that the tire tread be within the fender line. which doesnt allow the use of wider or lower offset wheels, the narrower tires they put on the wheels maintained legality and tucked in the fender, but yes +1 it def a dub thing

when u poeple say strech tires its not even correct the car will only take as wide as the fenders allows it too what u guys are doing in putting as wide as a tire as u can and fitting maximum width the tire will fit in a rim (ie:10 in ) it's more like rim stretching with 225's and spacers. I run volks gt-p with potenza RE050r 255 in back ,245 in front dont have a troublr and looks a lot better then "strectch tire" stuff peace out!
