its strange..I only have tierod 7mm spacers and stock tierods.. I think this is around what a maxed out rack should be with stock knuckles.. It doesnt even touch the sway bar or lower arm. Because of the fatty 30mm spacer on a 17x10 +12 wheel with 235/45s http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/SP_A0168.jpg

it feels looks like its alot already lol. But I still want more, I always hit lock at the track and dreamt of more! someday salvation will come!

Haha yeah probably.. I've not even looked.

I bought the car 2 weeks ago and have spend over 3k on parts just to do with suspension, angle, interior saftey, huge weld in cage, body kit etc. I have 3 weeks left to build the car to full competition spec.

the tyres/wheels left on her atm are the ones i bought the car with.. I have the following to go on..

17x10 et35 on rear.. probably a 235/40/17
17x9.5 et 12 on the front probably a 225/40 or 224/xx

but I need to get the spacers off my old 240sx which is being broken..
http://photos-g.ak.facebook.com/phot...80310_6619.jpg

that was last seasons ride.

I should have the front fenders on so i can use my spacers etc and see what i need to bash the crap out of for more lock.

I also had my first practice day in the car and the first day on the new engine in fact. She survived!! which is main thing, but I had some miiigghty loud bangs from the back and also was hitting the front arches..

more hammering i think.

join the club! You have broken your diff mounts ! or if you lucky, its just the nuts are loose on the rear diff mounts.. Yeah I have this all too familiar problem.. when I shift hard to bangs, or even downshifting and clutch kickin..

dcwfc3s 03-29-09 03:38 PM

anyone ever care to get sweet angle and still have both wheels remain parallel?

Sindregutt 03-29-09 06:03 PM

like not throwing low offset rims and huuge spacer to keep it away from the swaybars?
I know it looks stuupid with spacers etc. I found out that insted of pushing the wheel out oyu can make a spacer for the S4 arm. It wont work on s5 since it doesnt got a screws for the end-link(name please?)

NoPistons! 03-29-09 09:54 PM

Eye candy joint with megan racing next to stock garbagola so you can grasp the concept of "max angle from THE RACK".

This picture doesn't do the kit justice b/c i have an absurd amount of toe in i have to zero out. I dunno what happened. I lined everything up with the stock rods, set my camber as far negative as it would go (that might have done it) on my camber plates and have retarded toe!

I'll fix it some time this week. I'm off the next 3 days.

stevensimon 04-06-09 09:27 AM

need opinions on how to handle this problem.

modified knuckles, m-trix spacers and spherical joints. 8.5x17 -6 wheels. shit clears lca but is running into the lower subframe near the rear. its pretty stout metal right there and doesnt move well with a hammer so i was thinking that i would need to cut it but i dont like how close the subframe bolts will be after i remove that much material.. anyone else have similar problems? what did you do?

NoPistons! 04-06-09 12:55 PM

If it were me, i'd run a spacer if i couldn't beat more clearance out of it with a 5lb hammer..... If that doesn't work, i'd cut as a last resort.

slava 04-06-09 03:00 PM

had the same problem. keep hammering

i had the car on a lift, so it was easy to get a good swing on it

dkwasherexd 04-07-09 11:37 PM

where ever its shiny inside your wheel well, fuck it up with a hammer.. spray grey primer on it, then drive again and wherever is still shiny keep hammering away those spots..

fcnoevil 04-08-09 09:36 AM

does anyone know of a supplier that sells angle kits for a manual rack?? i know i can put a spacer but i want a tie rod and end setup... ps keep your comment on how gay manual steering is to yourself lol

No there is nothing out there, for a couple of reasons, one they use to different tie rods (one ps sized the other manual specific) Two, the manual tie rod side of the rack can only gain about 1.5mm more travel, while the other side is about 10mm so you will have different steering angles per side, best option is to find a ps rack.

this will not fail. 3 layers of welds straight across the lateral side.. Almost 2xthicker than the stock knuckle, and alot shorter.. Damnit Iwanted to install these today and drift with em at the track tnite, but I lost my front lugnut key, shit.. I guess Il get to try em out next week! The pictures are progress pics... the first pics is first layer of weld, then last is third..

stock..
I took a huge bodyshop sledge hammer to the end link hole ring and smacked it a few times, and damn the welds are immortal, its strong. I wanted to make sure while driving on the freeway the knuckles wont fail on me, my life depends on this ! lol cant wait to put em on...

dkwasherexd 04-10-09 01:26 AM

1 inch

dkwasherexd 04-10-09 06:04 AM

wait I take that back, its not once inch, its like about 3/4inch i cut out.. I hope I can buy a wheel key for my lugnuts.. shitt I lost my wheel key..i want to try these knuckles on

oilcover 04-12-09 03:48 PM

if you have steering spacers on, i'd take them out. knuckles + spacers = rub city most of the time. especially with the wack tire sizes you run lol...<3

dkwasherexd 04-13-09 02:29 AM

i was installing them this friday, and ran into a problem, the stock tierod end link hits the brake rotor because its kind of fat? lol. Looks like Il need the mazdatrix angle kit to work with my knuckles. so this will be postponed until I have $$ to get the angle kit from mazdatrixx

dkwasherexd 04-13-09 03:16 AM

yeah before welding I had the dust shield on it to double check. The knuckle doesnt hit the brake rotor, its just the stock tierod ends are really wide. I just didnt put the tierod in to check before welding, its just hitting alil. With the mazdatrix setup it should for sure fit. so yeah pattieennceee...
I modded a spare pair of knuckles I had, so what in my car is still stock.

dkwasherexd 04-13-09 04:09 AM

ive been drifting on stock knuckles this whole time, all I had were weiner 7mm tierod spacers with weiner stock tierods.

so Im super excited about getting moar angle lol

Sindregutt 04-14-09 05:06 PM

What about drawing some 3D sketches and get em milled? :D Does anyone know the limit of distance from pivot hole to center of the knuckle?
I got some short ones, but i got more to goo =)

NoPistons! 04-14-09 08:26 PM

Dk, you crazy azn bastard.

Did you bother to use a jig? Lol.

Ghetto fab!!!!!!

Maybe its just the pictures but it looks like you're increasing you're ackerman angle with those new holes?

It's just the awkward pic

Sindregutt 04-16-09 04:38 PM

That way it definatly isnt eny less ackerman angle. Mine are cut, and rewelded in place with little to none clearance from the brake disc. We want no ackerman angle, right? =)

dkwasherexd 04-16-09 04:44 PM

anybody run without the brake disc shield? is it safe without the shield? It will definitely give clearance..

[QUOTE=dkwasherexd;9133810]anybody run without the brake disc shield? is it safe without the shield? It will definitely give clearance..[/QUOTE

Yeah mine are gone... just tear them out... like 4 or 5 10mm bolts on the back of them.

mine came right off :dunno: maybe you missed a bolt? there should be no cutting at all.

Opposite ackerman would be ideal.

Turbo II Rotor 04-16-09 08:38 PM

Wut?

dkwasherexd 04-18-09 05:50 AM

yeah my brake shield comes off easy too..damnn Icant wait to get the heimjoints so Ican use my knuckles.. Even at adams I would be able to squeeze more angle if I had the knuckles in .. as I was hitting full lock many times, I wanted more steering angle !! would look so buckwild connecting with mad angle

okay, so I finished up installing em yesterday, and drove 74 miles on the freeway.. at first I was shitting bricks and only going 60 mph, cuz Im afraid of my spindles welds failing, but after a while I got over it and I guess Its fine haha, the 60 fwy in LA was bumpy as hell, and damn, IM loving my u turns and steering input.. It feels like a r/c car with high speed servo now.. well heres a small clip after I first installed em, and just testing em... the rim is hitting the LCA.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM0Lg8cE6sA

Il be testing out the spindles tmrw at Inland drift in lake perris Riverside... Lets throw this sucka in reverse angle haha

I got super itchy today and drifted a few turns on some streets omg, my feels like a 240 now. I never even hit full lock and I was already drifting more angle than I did at the track, I can stay on the gas way longer now.. It feels extremely easy to drive... if you see this angle in person you will shit bricks.

dkwasherexd 04-26-09 08:55 PM

Techtrix did the exact same thing, I remember at Balcony he was telling me about it, and Ive seen him get reall buck wild angle.. But yeah this is a good way to avoid using huge 50mm spacers up front. at my full lock my BRAKE CALIPER is almost hitting the LCA, my rim is still hitting the lca... yet Ims till using the stock oem tierods..You should be getting more angle than me with your setup.. I may do this mod later, but I just dont see why I need even more angle.. but yeah keep us updated !!!:)

NoPistons! 04-27-09 02:59 PM

So wouldn't these infact give you a shitload more negative camber without even touching prior camber settings?

Fuck. I keep throwing usuable shit in the trash. Tossed a set of lower ball joints away. Nothing was wrong with them, just bad boots. Easy replacements from energy suspension.....

So you wouldn't need longer tie rods with these? It does seem impossible to fuck up, unless you can't weld and dont believe in using clamps.

Let us know how this goes for you! Reverting back to oe style kuckles?

Turbo II Rotor 04-27-09 07:41 PM
