would it be better to start with this mod over Mazdatrix steering angle kit? cost vs immediate performance for my level of driving.

i'm still NA and on a budget because i'm attending UTI so i have to choose my upgrades wisely. i don't wanna spend the money on something that won't help me at my current skill level, amateur. i hit lock occasionally but i don't have enough power or maybe skill to keep my speed up at that angle. so if this is only for super angle i'll most likely pass and get the steering angle kit from Mazdatrix. or would it be better to go a different route?
For a N/A setup, i don't see u needing the extreme angle the knuckles provide. because of the low power it'd be hard to use all the angle. so a basic spacer/bump steer kit would be a better investment initially. also you will always need that down the road when you get more power and eventually get more angle. i've been drifting with just a spacer/bump steer kit for over 4 yrs and only recently have seen the "need" to get more angle. and that's because of being at a higher level and having to compete against factory teams.

i'm not sure what the prices are for Drifto's spindles.. but as for me... i'm still only considering doing this for others.. i don't really see much of a profit margin for the time invested in the part. so i'm not sure if i'll even make these available other than on my own projects..

thanks JTP, that's exactly the kind of information that i wanted in order to make my decision a bit more clearer. next up, PS rack and angle kit!

oh, i was also wondering if you were going to be at the Formula D event in Sonoma? i haven't seen you run since a PIR drift day back in Oregon. i'd love to check out your new-er-ish car and crazy backwards angle drift hahahahaha

How much length are you guys taking out of these?

I made some a while back and took out 15mm no jig or anything fancy , im using stock inners and outers with a 6mm tie rod spacer and thats all.

I also took the length out right by the spindle, not on the straight piece just before the tie rod hole. How much does cutting it in different places affect the ackerman angle and stuff?

Im looking to make another pair but cutting them shorter and possibly cutting them nearer the tie rod hole. At the moment I have about 47 degree of angle but my rims are hitting my sway bar at full lock (17x9 +12), do you guys hit the sway bar with better offset?

Heres what mine ended up looking like (****) but theyre strong as and work great!

Cheers!

But if a welded spindle ever broke you would probably get sued for everything you have. The liability on stuff like that is crazy.

I had the super angle now kit and made the knuckles aswell. Its awsome! I promissed some pictures but i still havnt shown anyone. Anyway pictures like the one above are lying cuz you use the fenders as a referance and your eyes get tricked by the space between the fender and the wheel. When thats said, steering angle is making the FC far better to drift -> my personal oppinion!

I Still get asked about this on a weekly basis, Justin.

I tell everyone what I need to do it.

And no one has yet to come through. Everyone here says you'll sell a ton, which is why i went through the time and effort needed to replicate my mod, and like tried and true RX7 owners (or maybe just drifters) its been all hopes and dreams.

Sorry if I didn't reply to every PM. I don't have the desire or time to go hunting for spare knuckles to mod and have on hand waiting for people. I get a lot of people asking if I can get it done the week of an event. For real? Does anyone think that would ever work out?

I tell everyone to PM me for price, but its under $300.

i ended up getting my knuckles in japan as no-one in Perth, Australia was keen on welding cast on a rather important steering part of a car...

imagine if the weld breaks at 100 on the freeway or something... i could imagine this causing a hell of a **** storm in laibility mad america?

fyi: queried haruguchi when he did my knuckles , he said he has had 1 knuckle break out of the 150odd he has modified..
