S4 T2 Diff How bad ?
I want to do an event very soon and do not think i'll have time to get a real diff. The only thing i have handy is an stock S4 t2 clutch diff. How bad will this be ? My only experience is in my old car but that was drag racing... Just trying to see if i will be wasting my time swapping the torsen

S4 TII diffs are the ****. Many people abuse them, run 10s and ect at the strip and they can last a good amount. It will be fine for more than one event unless you have bad luck or a **** diff.

my car is stock S4 TII rear diff, and it does this. super worn out but throws down still.
im either going to weld it, or invest in a good diff. we'll see after sema.
my best advice is just to run it, and find out. drifting is about getting by with as little money spent as possible... at first. then get nutz!!!

hey is it still holding up?
do you clutch ride **** alot, and upshift hard/do 2nd gear linelocks?
i was going to give him mine after nationals to weld. i just dont want to break it, cause then i HAVE to spend a grip on a baller diff...

Shim, shim, shim.
If you want aggressive, that's how you do it. Shim that bitch.
Weld it if you want. It doesn't push bad unless you're going like 0-10 mph GRIPPING without being somewhat manly with the clutch/throttle. I've been daily driving on a welded for two weeks now. I dont notice **** unless i'm parking or taking a low speed corner. The chirp/chatter **** is rather annoying but whatever. Gotta sacrifice **** to play hard.
If i can afford it, i'm throwing a kaaz 1.5 way in my s4 TII pumpkin next year.

doesnt feel like a shitty welded NA diff though... wayy different than what NoPistons has to say.
pretty smooth and not chattery cuz the 275's dont break at when not dorifto
Cj ( the full race fabricator that lives at erics) was saying that they would gutt the clutch assembly and weld the remaining, but doesnt look like they did.

dude full throttle 2nd some 3rd with 275's and 285's and it holds up great...

I picked up a diff from a 10ae that I was gonna swap in, but I figured I should freshen it up if I'm goin through all the trouble. Ideally I'd like to get 20-25% more aggressive lockup, but what does that equate to in shim size?
Also has anyone rebuilt a T2 diff using those thicker clutch plates from mazdatrix? does that yeild a more aggressive lockup or just increased wear resistance?

Use the first cone washer in the stack as a template and make a shim out of a flattened red bull can, If you need thicker use a regular pop can. Put the shim between the case and the cone washer. A single shim will typically turn a worn (<10ft/lbs of breakaway) into 50-60 ft/lbs of breakaway(70-75 ft/lbs with a pop can). Two red bull shims will put you into 120ft/lbs + territory.

That's how it works. Circles and physics.
LSD is completely different. I had ZERO chatter or clunk from my real lsd.
I did a write-up with pics but someone was misusing and screwing around with my photobucket so i deleted them. Didn't have saved on this computer and the old computer was wiped due to viruses. No firewall is safe from koreans that play starcraft.....
Just throw shims on parts that dont move. I used pbr cans for the sheer trashyness of it. Someone on here can attest the **** works besides myself. I just couldn't drive well enough to make full use of it.

physics shmiziks...
as long as your diff isnt open, then just get out to the track and drive. tear it up with the cusco or the stock clutch type.
the moral of the story is to go out and drive... put in work

Yeah. Weldeds are fun, dont get me wrong. You just have to learn how to drive.
No heel toe and doing brutal engine braking downshifts in the rain intending to grip drive=no good. You might be able to get away with it running an open or lsd but with a welded....any steering input or weight transfer during this WILL PWN YOUR *** if you dont know how to drive.
