pick and choose

take a look through this thread, 18's have the good offsets but I really would rather 17's myself.

heres some attached pics I saved of members cars. the black car I think are p45r's, the blue car I know are p45r in the rear and p45f in front, the red car are actual nismo lm4gt's (the wheel p45r's are replicas of. main difference is the bolt area is smooth inward on the nismo's and quality I'm sure)
volk te37's are another great wheel that I would go with myself. give them a look too. there is also the uras ns-01 but good luck finding any, rare. they are very similar to the p45r's.

OMG, not this again. it is rare for rotas to break like that unless they are in a serious accident. they don't just do that driving down the road or on regular track duty. I (and lots of others) have friends that have drifted into curbs and tapped walls while on rotas and they have still held air (if not a little bent but that is UNDERSTANDABLE WHEN YOU HIT A CURB HARD). do you know the guy that owns that car? do you know the story? this is an internet rumor that got out of control. any rim can break if in a major accident or situation that cause extreme force on the rim. there was one rim type that was prone to cracking under load but they were recalled so I'm guessing that's what started the "rota sucks" fad.
/rant.
sorry, I'm just sick of this ****. if you don't have personal experience with the story behind these broken rotas then stfu. they are perfectly fine and p45r's have thicker spokes then that wheel anyway so they should be even stronger. the fact that they are casted and not forged makes them a little weaker maybe but they are still good wheels to run. No one listen to this guy, rotas might not be quite as strong as other name brands but they don't just explode like that on there own. I have read all the "rota sucks" threads and articles on various forums and the like and its bs. the fact that high hp race teams are using them for years pretty much states that.

there was a thread where this racing team went to bat for rotas. they use them all the time and that car has at least 300hp. I can't find the thread but have these pics saved. heres the car that vouches for rotas. notice in the first pic that the inside front wheel isn't touching the ground? that means there is a lot of load on the outside wheel and it handles it. with the weight reductions, that impreza probably weighs about as much as our cars because they have heavy motors and drivelines for the awd.
ok, I have my flamesuit on but keep in mind THIS IS NOT A ROTA ARGUEMENT THREAD. just making a counter point due to misinformation.
OP, what are you using the car for? BTW, I know a few guys in s chassis' that drift HARD on rotas and have not broken them, one car was on p45r's so they can handle that abuse.

and the fact that my brother had rotas on his subi and they had hairline cracks in the wheels after only 2 years of DD on virginia **** roads isnt personal experience........
and no, i dont have any pictures, because he trashed them and bought REAL wheels, 4 years later, they look brand new, and yes, those REAL wheels were volk...
dude, you need to calm down

touche.lol, I'm just tired of people dissing rota. there failure rate isn't that bad or they would not be around anymore. cast wheels are weaker yes but I have personal experience of people running rotas for years (more then 4). mind you I think you are better off with thicker spoke models like the p45r but w/e. I've said my piece, last thing I will say is that most of the broken rota pics I have seen have been mostly the same 2 models, I have not seen a broken p45r or grid that haven't been in a MAJOR collision with something like a curb. Of the broken p45r's I have seen, the barrel was shattered because of a major impact which totaled the car. maybe a forged wheel would have held up better but it still would have bent and be unusable.
basically, I think and have proof of the p45r lasting a long time and taking a beating. the grids are also pretty good. other models I have no experience with but I have read of people not having cracked rims for years on other models. I think that people shouldn't be surprised if they have 18" wheels with thin tires and drive 2 years on shitty roads, bombing their cars right down the road. Not saying your bro wasn't careful or even know what sizes he was running, just saying. I bet you 16's and 17's with more tire have less problems then 18's.

ive seen some of those ef rota threads too. I too thought it was all from impact. I cant imagine the company would still be around if they just blew up. Im sure whatever it was that let those rims blow up should have been corrrected by now.

well, I can tell you that I perssonally know someone who has an s chassis on 17" p45r's and he's been on them for around 2-2 1/2 years now and he beats his car and drifts it. they don't have any cracks and have held up well. no paint problems either on them (I guess theres a rota paint peeling off problem too?). I know someone who has grids and has had them for 3-4 years now and still going strong. If some rota models crack then its not those so I think you are safe. just take it easy on bumpy roads if you're on 18's. but you could always dish out the extra dough for actual nismo lm4gt's, I think they were going for almost 2k for 4 in good condition last I saw a few months back. if you can find uras ns-01's then I'm sure they are around that price as they are really rare as far as I have seen.

A lot of the drivers in the European Drift Series run rotas. Specifically the P45rs or Grids. They have some pretty sweet sizes too.

I don't see a difference between the r and r2 visually. does it come in different colors or offsets or something?
nevermind, I see the difference now. the p45r2 has an actual lip instead of being concave so the face is flat. the concave is what I like about the p45r's though but nice idea by rota to do a different (more ordinary) take on a popular wheel. they look nice and all but I would prefer the regular r's myself with a good offset like 20mm.

volk, work, advan, weds, oem wheels off of other vehicles (mustangs, nissan Z, crown vics, etc)
its easy to find damned good genuine wheels for a good price. please, stop thinking knock offs, they just dont belong on a decent built car, look my **** for an example: work wheels on bfg kdw nt, ya, its a little expensive setup, but i would never think to run fake wheels
and besides, real japanese wheels helps japan return to its former glory
HELP JAPAN!!!

i got my pair of TE's for about $1500 with Neovas. **** is expensive, but real wheels hold their value well.
