You diff mount is stopping you from drifting?

well, the fact that its broken doesn't help lol

Replace it and add a pinion snubber.

What is the average setup to Ideally go for? Lets not go over whats been posted before(suspension, steering, power, time...). I'm curious about what you guys/gals do in the engine bay for cooling, and what to monitor with gauges and such. Even though its a N/A engine, what is keeping some(not all) from "DDD"(daily, drive, drift) their car?

Turbo II Rotor 11-09-09 11:49 PM

Na's really just need maintenance. It has the same heat exchangers as the turbo model less the boost so you really have no problems with them. I'd say just an aluminum rad (which is more of a reliability mod, the plastic top tank sucks) and keep the factory undertray.

For cooling I use to run just a stock radiator with an electric fan. Then I worked some magic with an old hood and i rarely even needed to turn the fan on.

Mazdatrix. Or just make a wtb in the for sale section.

Its a finishline kit that stopped production in the late 90s.

i started bone stock street drifting corners and such. since i had no job for awhile most of the parts i aquired were semi lop. ebay sleeve overs on stock blown struts. limited slip from the gtu model and a 4 point aerodyne cage. i seem to do pretty well in mine. just keep the rpms high and enter fast as hell kick the clutch and counter steer. simple

It was actually the very last copy of it that erebuni had.

lonetlan 11-15-09 06:44 PM

Oh, okay. So I should look up erebuni, thanks

So let's get this back and about NA drifting.

My FC is still NA and it slides, ok. I still need a ton of practice and a full of exhaust. It's funny tho, I've driven 240s with SRs, one RB, and it's so easy! I'm kinda thankful for the challenge of my FC and what it's taught me. I need to try what a_drift said next season.

airquin23 11-16-09 12:39 PM

N/A drifting here. I don't mind it. It's cool for now.

Is a rollcage worth putting in a N/A for chassis stiffening? Or is it a little much?

ckykid02 11-18-09 10:33 PM

its never too much. i picked up an aerodyne 4 point and slapped it in mine. handling you dont really notice too much difference.

clint999 11-20-09 05:10 AM

+1 for the last part man. That's probably the best advice out there. If you don't have to spend anything on mods then you can really afford the general maint/tires/body pieces for drifting.

I still honestly feel that 17" rims are too big. I run 16x8's all around. 245/45/16 w the coilovers + spacers up front. They weigh the same as the stock rims I have. Maybe an ounce or two heavier, but basically the same. There's too much rotational mass on 17" rims, esp for something that doesn't make much power to begin with.

just my $.02

ckykid02 11-20-09 12:16 PM

i run 17s and have a hell of a time initiating.

K!NCH 11-20-09 12:49 PM

I run a set of 350z wheels in the rear with cheap burnoff tires (225/45) and as far as power mods go, I'm pretty much stock (cat-back and cone filter). I can intiate just fine with an ebrake but for long sweepers I run out of power towards the end of them. I figure headers and high-flow cat should fix that. :)

ckykid02 11-20-09 12:51 PM

i have two problems with that. one no e brake. two: terrible oil seals. it just adds smoke to my tires cept out of my tailpipe :)

K!NCH 11-23-09 02:42 AM

Lol, I have no trouble with my ebrake. Just got to tighten it a bit.
