I believe you need to cut the front studs to the width of the spacer. I could be wrong though. I still have more research to do before installation.

Explain?

And I don't know what bushings would be just for the front. Would it hurt to have them all replaced?

My wheels have a 5x100 and 5x114.3 pattern, think that would matter? I dont want to take the wheels off lol.

Has anyone ever tried "venting" a stock hood with something like this

http://www.aerokits.net/cart/index.p...oducts_id=6245

maybe right in front of the scoop. Would this even work?

I was just wondering because I'm thinking about moving out to either Phoenix/Scottsdale area or Vegas area in about a year so I'm kinda scouting shops/scenes/support that sorta thing

Both places are starting to have a good Rotary scene.

For racing I think we have a lot more options.
Vegas has VegasDrift
Phoenix has Trial By Fire/NASA/AZDrift. We have about 4 tracks in rotation(Firebird west/main/skidpad , PIR infield, P1 Kart track). Firebird puts on a monthly Drift n Drag event for $40 too.

I'd recommend Phoenix over Vegas right now. It seems like Vegas is having some serious issues with jobs/housing right now.
Not to say we don't, but it seems like we're a bit more viable than Vegas right now.

I'm also in the works of redoing AZRx7.com

Haha. Good sales pitch. Either place I went I would keep my current job (Can work remotely from anywhere in the world) So i'm not worried about finding work. I've just about always lived in NY except for the 5 years I spent in pittsburgh for college and a year. I'm basically just tired of snow, and rust and insanely high prices and taxes so I thought I'd head west warm.

couldn't agree more. the job search out here usually takes like 6 months on average to find solid work. depends on credentials, background, your line of work ETC, but job hunting sucks.
although it has improved and may improve more by the time you're ready to get out here, or phoenix. i personally enjoyed the quality of people i met in AZ, and the camaraderie amongst drivers/people in the scene as opposed to vegas.

vegas has "clicks" so to say amongst drivers... if you're outside of it, you'll hate life.
the main guys that run VD are all close knit friends, going way back... they have connections in pretty high places, and if anyone has issues with one person amongst them, there's always drama amongst everyone... and it can make life/driving really gay/not worthwhile after sometime... drama gets drug on..

it's gay, but such is life. i remember back in the day when you had issues with someone, you throw blows, and after that (generally) you become best buds, or atleast have enough respect to drop the differences... here that is not the case.

i vote phoenix.

That's too bad... I've never been about the clique thing anyway. I keep to myself too much to get involved in that social hierarchy bull$hit. And for the record 6 months to find solid work isn't bad at all. Try coming out here to NY and you'll beg to only have 6 months to find work. You know what they say "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere." We've got laid off corporate vice presidents working at best-buy for the health insurance out here.

I'd NEVER do business with that guy again.

alright, i don't normally throw someone under the bus, but this has to be known. He hit me up about "sponsoring me with a "race" motor for my green car...

now, up to this point i've built my own motors and made 460whp tuning them myself, but he "promised" that he could guarantee over 500 easily. he talked himself up about being the best engine builder this and best that...

so anyway i loaded up 3 (THREE) core motors to make 2 good motors out of, including brand new mazda seals, enough for 2 (TWO) engines, which he was going to sponsor me on labor and port/build them. one was to be completed in a couple months then the other was possibly going to be a little more aggressive on the port depending on how the first motor turned out.

I loaded everything up and drove from los angeles to phx to drop everything off. i got there and his shop was a mess, engines everywhere and didn't look like anything was getting done.. but i had all my stuff labeled and in containers so i figured it would all stay together. we talked about cars for a bit, he showed me some pics of stuff he had done etc.. after an hr or so i took off back to cali.

about 5-6 months pass and i don't hear from glen, so i hit him up and ask how the engine is coming. he mentioned my front iron was cracked and i needed a new one. he said he could locate one and it would be about $50. he also said he'd cover the cost, since it was taking longer than expected to get the engine together due to things being busy with "paying" customers.. which i had no problems with.

now at this point i had already signed with mazda driving the 3 rotor rx8 so i was no longer going to be competing in my green rx7, but i still had plans to drive demo's and make sure once the engine was in the car it would get exposure. so after another 6 months or so i still haven't seen the engine, glen's still saying he can't find an iron, blah blah blah blah blah.. basically stalling... flaking... whatever you want to call it.. but not delivering an engine.

so a couple more months pass I contact glen again to see what's up with the engine, if he was still going to build it (it's obviously waaaay past due) or if i can just get all my stuff back, and i'd build it myself.. We agreed on me getting back some of the parts so i could use them to put an engine back together. we meet at seven stock and i grab some parts from him.. at this point he's still "working" on building my 1st engine..

after another 4-5 months i get signed by falken, now driving the mustang. at this point i'm completely over having this dude build my engine, so i call him to have him send back my stuff with my buddy that lives in phx but is coming to cali that weekend. he gets all bent but agrees to box my stuff up and send it with him. i get back stuff back and it's missing TONS of parts.. and he sent bs parts in place of my good stuff. like a 2nd gen eshaft/stationary gears instead of the 3rd gen ones i brought, missing all my seals/gaskets etc.. i call him to see what's up and he said he had them around there, or maybe they were accidentally put back into stock... Keep in mind I labeled all my stuff and it was also in bins i had brought.. Oh, and he had to use a couple seals on his car because mazda was out of stock.. and a couple other projects... THIS DUDE USED MY PARTS ON OTHER PEOPLES CARS... are you F'N KIDDING ME!!!

anyway after struggling for 3 months and about a million calls/txts i got most of my stuff back... i'm sure the housing and rotors were swapped with other ones etc.. but at least i now have something to put back together..

CLIFF NOTES:

Glen calls me and wants to sponsor an engine for my car

bring glen @AZRR 3 motors (including seals/gaskets etc..) to make into 2 good ones on "sponsorship"

get 1.5 motors back

he uses my parts on other cars

get last motor back after 2 years, with some shotty porting, still missing seals/gaskets

never do business with glen weaver.

come to find out there's several other people that have had problems with him and two of his previous employee's have told me the same type of stories about other customers as well..

P.S.
This is by far the longest post i have ever made... haha

i've heard some horror stories from them aswell. several customers came to vegas for work after going there... not dropping names, nor am i in a position to pass blame, but what justin went through i know first hand, cause i'm dealing with that BS right now from another shop...

^^^^ WOW!! Thats ****** terrible. As a side note here, I have never seen JTP say anything about another rotary shop in a negative way, so this shouldn't just be taken with a grain of salt as "**** talkin."

I do 90% of my own work anyway. Really the only things I need from shops out here are cages/custom welding/some fab work and dyno tuning. Maybe I'll tow my cars from either Vegas or Phoenix out to cali. But that's certainly not ideal either. I wish cali wasn't just as expensive as NY

if you're trying to do anything with drifting, cali is the place to be... there's ways to live efficiently out here as well.. u might keep it in mind.. plus there's a really good rx7 fab/tuning shop out here i can hook u up with... haha

i really try not to bad mouth anyone.. but some things just can't be overlooked.

i have the S4 LCA's so i was going to extend the lower balljoint outward like slidealliance's setup.
i sold my satoru copied ones, so hopefully soon i can swoop on a set.

they're not dialed yet.. steering doesn't feel right with how it's setup.. we need a couple more track days to dial in the alignment/settings to make sure it's ready for sale. not trying to sell something that's not proven.

but for those guys that need spindles the ver1's are more than enough for where they're at i'm sure of it... so tell them to hit me up.
