Can you actually tell him why drifting on a torsen/helical lsd sucks. ..........even if it's an $1300 or whatever how much they cost queef....i mean quaife helical?

No, you can't.

Helical aka Torsen aka gear type lsd's only provide lock up when you're on the gas. Might as well drift with an open.

helical aka torsen diffs + drifting= fail yes there is no lock up on decel which is why even with a clutch type diff a 2 way is preffered over a 1.5 (for drifting) i hope you feel smart lol... all i was saying is you dont have to be a dick... you could have just answered the question or kept your mouth shut

Well you're set then. OS Giken is buisness! Why would you ask about the helicals? For a friend? If that's the case, tell him to save his money and buy a clutch type. You CAN drift with a torsen, it's just not ideal because it acts like an open as soon as you let off. Predictable but not. Takes a VERY good driver to get it on with a helical.

About 2 way preffered over a 1.5 way......

It depends on the driver.

He should do the following.

Pull diff.

Remove ring gear.

Hose **** down with brake cleaner.

Weld spider gears together.

Weld spider gears to case.

Done.

That's the cheapest way. Full 2 way diff.

Oh, and the coolest thing about this is when you corner slow with a stiff chassis and suspension and REALLY sticky tires on *** cheese grater pavement, you can three wheel it.

I lol'd when i saw a member of this forum who shall not be named (not like he cares anyway) leave my driveway doing that. So awesome it was funny.

You never said what kind of car this was going in either. I'm going to make an *** out of you and me and assume an rx7. He can look into the welded option (cheap 2 way diff) or go with an S4 TII diff (basically a two way but the lock sucks. Gotta mod/rebuild).

Anyone else is going to tell you to do the same thing in his given situation. Either weld it or run an s4 TII lsd.

I don't know much about it for drifting, but the other people who posted here seem to. As far as quality....complete garbage..a guy took one apart next to a quaife:

Are you shitting me it's an fd your "friend" is wanting to put an obx into?

Why bother? The fd already has a helical lsd. Also known as a "gear type" or "torsen type"

Technically, all lsd's are torsen. Torsen= TORque SENsing. I dont want to confuse you more than you already are. I'll wait for someone else to help you out......

Your friend is a dumb ***. Collect your debt before you watch him blow your money on **** parts.
