Nikko Circuit`s FC Drifters
Just thought I`d post up in the drift forum for the first time.
Two days ago I attended a drift event in Japan at Nikko Circuit. Out of 100 cars (80 of which were some sort of silvia) 7 of them were rx-7s. 4 of the 7`s were FC`s, the others, FD`s.
I noticed two things in these guys setups that are contrary to what most people do to their cars on this forum. All of the cars were NOT running front mounts and also still had power steering. Most of them had aftermarket intercoolers, but not mounted up front where it`s nice and pretty and ready to get smashed into something.

VMIC seems to be the way to go out there and thats probably what im gonna do. its less likely to get damaged the air dosnt have to travel as far and it stays just as cool if done right.

What, you saying drifters normally don't have PS? I can't imagine drifting w/o power steering! It just doesn't make any sense to me! Can someone explain the benefits of drifting w/o it?

Increases steering feedback(much more sensitive and easier to tell whats going on), you can transition from left to right alot faster, less weight up front, there are tons of advantages. In the end it's mostly personal preference. If the car is light then manual steering is easy as pie and you barely notice it. I'll be putting p/s back on my FC (previous owner took it off) just to see what it's like.

ya, vmounts the ****. fmic r not great from track or drift cuz u got no cold air hitting the radiator. n w/o powersteering turning in while drifting is aparently more difficult. i have my fb n when i get sideways its not so bad but im sure its gunna b way different w/ the fc. o n those jdm guys probably still run huge wheels n tires so p/s is kinda the smart thing to do

Me inside an FC with my driftface on!
More to come...

The no smoking sign was too good to pass!
Big ***** McDrifto was the absolute craziest guy on the track, and I let him know it. It's not polite in any language (ESPECIALLY JAPANESE) to approach someone and tell them that he's crazy, but I did it anyway. He understood...I wish I could post a video of him, he get's tooooo sideways.
