The sound you hear, " foofoofoofoooo" is compressor surge.

... in the video below is an example true compressor surge. It occurs when the pressure/flow crosses the surge line on the compressor map, hence the name. What happen when you lift off the throttle with no BOV is a little different

Too bad that HE351 has such a tiny exhaust flange. They are worthless imo on a wankel.

But that's what gives it's low end grunt. Plus I got 2 off these turbo for free so the price was right. Of course if I had to buy a turbo this would not be on there. gt3582r ftw or smaller.

I don't care what other people are saying. This car rips, and looks like it was put together with an easy budget.

Thanks. I have been running this turbo for about 2 season so far. I had zero issues with the turbo. Most of my issues are the idiot behind the wheel lol. I am doing all the tuning myself so of course I have had some unnecessary hicups. But It is all part of the hoby. This turbo will move some air. I have made some 30psi pulls and it will pull to redline. And yes this setup can be done for very cheap.

Im assuming that was wheel spin in the dyno vid?

Not to be a dick - but i wouldnt mess with this turbo. The video shows your car fall off so hard on top end... Like its dope it has a bunch of punch early but then it turns into a stock turboII...

i doubt the turbo is holding back the top end, im betting it has something to do with the tune.

Found some vid from last year had a little better tune but still low boost. Stupid iphone camera messed up. 12psi pull to redline. You can hear the buzzer in the videos.

I'm going to run a he351ve on my first gen. Already have a megasquirt ECU, cx racing fb t4 manifold, t4 to VGT adaptor, 50mm wastegate. Engine will be a s4 6 port with RA classics stock port. Cooling mist water/meth, ID1000x4, rear sumped stock tank with inline 255lph. Plan on making 350hp in the 16psi range.
I'm going to limit travel on the VGT around to less than half way. Since it is near .15a/r to the smallest to 2.00a/r largest. I want roughly .80a/r to 2.00 the n/a engine should help the low end issue anyway.

i was 365whp at 18psi with a really bad tune. With letting it close all the way made the car ridiculously quiet a cruse. Which was nice. But it is a tuning nightmare with the changing a/r. I would setup up dual table and using tps for one table and have it switch over the main table after 30% tps. On the highway going up a small grade it would see 12psi @ 3200rpm with me just trying to hold speed. let off anymore it would slow down. lol. I could hit 12psi free reving in neutral.

365whp @ 18psi not that great of a tune. Was injecting to much water/meth back it down by 50% but could not get traction when I went back.

For anyone concerned with the power shortcomings, the Garrett GT4094VA Ball Bearing is available... For $1920 of course.

Garrett Stage 2 GT4094VA Turbocharger GM Duramax 04.5-09

Getting it to work is another thing, I don't know how one would go about controlling it. That exhaust inlet flange looks very compatible (circular) with a rotary engine, but not the immediate 90 degree bend.
