Messing with spring rates/ratios?
Been discussing running stiffer dampener spring rates in the rear with a friend and were curious about the effects. Example, nakamura running reverse rake to get that weight ratio and momentum. Could this be possible by running stiffer springs/stiffer dampeners in the rear. Any first hand experience? Or good videos?
My main focus is low ride height, and a snappy trailing rear. Im running pbm comp coils with 10/8.
Im thinking of running a 10/12 setup om the same dampeners or run pbm supra dampeners if they are the same specs. But at the same time i dont want to be fully skating. Haraguchis setup?
Buckey where you at?

haraguchi runs a skaty setup, his cars have no grip. 326coils for s-chassis are 12k/10k iirc
the only time I've heard of higher spring rates is older JDM setups before FD starting making grip an issue. the old apex'i FD ran a 22k/14k setup.
IMO a stiffer rear spring is counter-productive setup where you want grip, and i'd predict understeering issues. =\
snappy transitions are from the sway bars unloading the sprung weight, I noticed ever since I took out my front sway bar for clearance I lost all snappyness

nah... i drive my brothers fc all the time, and he has ksports with the OG spring rates. doesnt feel that different at all. granted he has a couple more horsepower, but im running bigger rims/tires
i ordered them with the 10k fronts and 13k rear from ksport and was told the dampening and monotube would be different for the higher spring rate
idk but thats what they said

that **** all sounds super retarded. higher rates in the rear will just cause less of the weight to transfer to the back. cool if you want your car to look level and not squat. but you lose all grip you could gain from weight transfer.
nakamura doesn't run anything crazy. i'd bet he runs 8/6 rates and just reverses the rake on the car. i did that in LBC last year and it felt super good. definitely going to go back to a reverse rake setup and stick to standard rates.

To each their own. It sounds stupid but unless you have driven it first hand, then how would know how it handles?
My response is first hand experience, and I have driven lower spring rates on fc's. When the spring rate is like 18 or 22 is prolly very extreme and prevents squat. My 12k rears still squat

Mine is 8/6. Feels good. Wonder how a 5k rear would feel..
And i havent driven your car but i have driven my car with 10k rears... 8k rears.... We both have FCs and big wheels, it's nothing special. My car felt slow with high rates. I would always get walked away following and sucked up on leading.... This setup now just digs.
Ive been in a 13 with 4k rear springs and that thing had to be the fastest accelerating car ive ever been in while sliding. Mind boggling

8k front 5k rear feels really good. that's how i had ryan's black fc setup and it felt like it had much better forward and lateral traction compared to what i remembered my 8/6 setup feeling like (had been about a year since when the green car was stolen)... there's going to be a sweet spot that either up or down from will feel pretty good but going to extremes either way won't..

Yeah running 18x11.5 in the rear with 235 40. Panspeed hybrid. Right now I'm running 10/6. Have more control with gas but a noticeable loss in that skaty feeling from going 10/8. Probably going to grab some 12k and try them in the rear. Makes up for low power but initiations almost have to be on point with the stiffer. Used to mob 3rd gear and feint easily with the stiffer.
And started messing with RB rear sway with adjustable end links. Stiffened the rear with lowering spring rate in rear but hard to find sweet spot for transitions
