Getting into Drifting with an FB
#26
Thanks a lot, it was definitely done. School's out in 2 weeks, hopefully there will be more work done on all the toys.
We took it out again this weekend, and it did really well again, a bit more burning oil this time though. I was by myself this time. Skinny tires on the back, and brand-new ones up front.
Next thing I'm looking at is premix. I need a block off plate, which is super cheap, but I'm in BC so the shipping to my door is triple what I'm paying for it. Looking at maybe next month. If I can't figure anything out for it, I'll order it and pay the ridiculous shipping, I just need it for the 28th.
Also looking at deleting the rats nest, but wondering other than cosmetically, what the benefits of doing that is. Anyone got anything? Haha.
One last question. My boyfriend and I are looking at doing the exhaust soon. Only relatively affordable options are straight piping, but the guy at the shop said look into that because they tend to rather have some back pressure so straight piping actually doesn't help. Any experience with this happening, or is the awesome sound really awesome in general? (There's a straight piped N/A 13B in town that sounds amazing)

Put a resonator upstream after your cat if you're running one. If you want a deeper tone get a large diameter straight through muffler with a large outlet. Bigger diameter equals lower tone, just like porting a subwoofer box. Keep it under 2.75 inch for the piping as long as you're naturally aspirated. I had this type of setup on my S5 and it shook buildings at idle and sounded like an F1 car at redline. It was too loud for the street though.

Haha, that's awesome. I'm looking into exhaust right now. Hopefully ordering new suspension soon and the car is currently in the shop getting body work done. Also got a really good quote on a roll cage that I might go with. The spare engines I have are getting cracked open (I had no impact) so I can start rebuilding a couple of them.
My boyfriend and I are moving to the other side of town in September, and we'll have a bigger shop with all the tools we'll need right away, so we'll be able to keep doing all of the work ourselves.
Would that exhaust set-up be alright for my car since it's carbed then? My boyfriend and his friend were thinking it might be different just because of that....
