Building a Drift car

My plan for Trans is a T56 at the moment, some people are questioning it and why im not going T-5.. I havnt looked into it much but I have heard good things from chevy techs about the T56. I have more research to do. For the Dshaft, its supplied with the Grannysspeedshop kit. That is what I will use for the time being. Possible upgrade later

T56 is good. super strong. i've heard/seen alot of people have throwout bearing issues with them often. idk how often, nor that it can't be solved easily.
T56 is $1k-$1,500 if you can source one. maybe less. seems alot when you can get an LS/Tranny for roughly $3k.

That would've been my recommendation, too. However, if you can get a hold of one, it wouldn't hurt to have it freshened up, prior to install.
I ran something retarded, like 90W in my rear-end, when I was drifting; found that it holds up nicely under the heat cycles, though taking a few extra minutes to REALLY heat up, and flows okay through some diff-coolers.
Depending on how deep you want to get with it, you could get a good LSD and/ have some undercutting/ cryo-treating done to the gears, ntm do some different combinations of ratios.
I mention this in case you want to really start mucking about with the T56 final-drive.

Additional reading, regarding the T56
Great quote from the last link: "RSG has a bunch of its T56 combinations in the real world living behind engines putting out well over 650 hp at the rear wheels. It has built these bulletproof iterations for road- and drag-racing applications, along with normal replacement applications for people who want the improved gear ratios and internal upgrades for their street ride. The privilege can be yours too, for a mere $3,500 (retail)."
Heheheheheh.

The racing or the building?
Just when you think that the budget's stabilized, you start racing...
THEN the bank starts denying you for bubble gum loans. Hell, you start owing THEM money every time you even THINK about going up to an ATM machine... Soon as you get to the bacnk you get robbed, at card-point by the ATM.

I am acctually in florida now for the Military...
Updates are as follows
I got these new seats for $150.
Then I went ahead and removed the speaker area from the rear strut towers...
After that I went and removed the entire harness from the car. I am dreading reinstalling it...
and last but not least finally finished stripping the interior and primed the whole thing.
Next I am either going to pull the windshield or start on getting the engine bay cleaned up...

Not much going on, I pulled the dash back out there were a few rock chips on the roof with a spec of surface rust, so I cleaned it all up, feather out where the paint was faded and primed it. Also I fixed a couple dents in the rear near the 3rd brake light and threw some primer on it. Currently i am debating on going widebody, the quarters on this car are screwed up pretty bad from whatever the previous owner did to it. Pictures in a bit

Started the day trying to get the chip guard off of the bottom of the door. I really want that smooth clean look so took some aircraft stripper to it.
Let it bubble then took a spreader to it
picture to show the dents and dings
and after the hard days work all straight and ready to wetsand for paint...

I know the garage is a mess but I Threw most of the car back together. Then remember I had some mercedes rims sitting in the corner. I would need to go ahead and do the 5lug swap and get some adaptors but who knows...

Heres a little update, Ive been working on the destroyed rear quarter all evening. First thing I did was take off the previous filler I had put on there to try to remember what the metal was like underneath it. I then started deciding on how the rears should look since both rear quarter uppers have dings so im not 100% how its supposed to be. came up with what I thought was right and started laying filler. Heres where im at its not complete but I need some sleep before work in the am. Also I have the interior together to get a idea of how its going to look and ive also started rewiring the rear of the car. Its completly tucked looks fantastic. After looking at the pics I cant wait to see the dash and door panels black with the battleship grey interior and orange cage...

Just about complete, I noticed a few tiny things after priming but its okay because all the primer needs to be wetsanded before paint. Ill just fix it at the end.. but it looks amazing
