240SX into FC Coilover Install?

I've seen some talk about installing S13 coilovers on FC's. I have a set lead on some coilovers I can't pass up. Does anyone have a write-up or how-to?

Thanks,

Andrew

Pretty retarded thing to do. Too much work for something there is already a solution for.

I know the strut tower plates are different so you'd have to buy FC ones.
Do the bottom parts of the monotube even bolt up right?
Are the spring rates correct?

I have heard of it being done, but wasn't aware of the work involved. Looks like I'll be looking for some used FC coils instead

Thanks,

Andrew

From my experience, the S13 Front / FC Front coilover from the same brand is almost identical in shock diameter, spring O/D and size. Just need to fab custom lower bracket and custom top mounts.

But why?

It's 2011. Theres tons of coilovers you can buy for under $1200.

Godspeed.

USED JIC, HKS, CUSCO, TEIN....all under $600.

****, i was offered fla-tar's for $500 shipped a while back. One strut needed a rebuild but still, that's a good set of coils for $650 total. IIRC, jic charged 150 for damper rebuild at the time. I think they went out of business though.

FYI, s13 coils DO work with a bit of tweaking. Not much but a bit. Is it worth it? Depends on what you are willing to prove to people and yourself. I wont tell you NOT to do it but it most certainly can be done.

I may just dick around with some S13 hardware just to see what kind of mods are needed and post up in this thread.

I'm considering running a set, mostly because used/rebuilt S-chassis garbage is EVERYWHERE and CHEAP here in UT. But I like Godspeeds, and as cheap as they are brand new I hear they're still very capable.

Used stuff in Utah for FC is basically nonexistant.

And why can't someone drill more holes in the shock tower to bolt in S13 camber plates? I've seen 4 extra holes drilled to use camber plates for caster adjustment on FC.

Could buy camber plates for the tops and re-weld the lower bracket?

You might not even have to. Just drill out the lower brackets.

The rears, you might have to have a bushing machined and that's not ****. Any competent machine shop SHOULD be able to turn you out a pair of sleeves and delrin bushings (if your coils use those) in no time. If you need male heims, you can just buy those off the shelf.

I think it's crazy that people have used different parts to make coilover kits for their old toyotas and nissan/infiniti's yet when someone mentions doing it for an fc it's "just go buy coilovers for an fc".

Sometimes, taking the easy way out just hinders growth.

Aside from maybe getting stuff cheaper or have more available options, not really. To some, those are all the advantages they'd need or want.
