OK>.. Good news!
I just talked to Nantahala resort/spa.. Talked to the owner for 20 mins and 15 mins with the manager.
I have to say, I feel REALLY good about them!!
I'll work out the details... if things look good. I'm back in the game!
I'm also going to head up there sometime in OCT to check out the place...

The "fail of the dragon" isn't even a road anymore. 14 cops on 11 miles of a tourist attraction doesn't do it for me. It has changed so much.
Sorry for all of the bullshit they gave you.

But this year, they tried to give us earlier times in the year and trying to charge more and more!! I mean I'm guaranteeing them 150 people, 3 meals, and lodging at their place.. I personally think thats a lot of people and I think most business would want that.. Apparently Fontana thinks they could do better... Hmm.. My goal now is deter people from staying at Fontana...
i am fine with no lodging organization.. let people figure that out on their own. maybe concentrate your efforts organizing a big meeting/lunch at the dam and then a cruise. collect money for a t-shirt which includes lunch?

"Fucktana"!! LOL!
The group sale person is on vacation and as soon as she gets back, I'll have better idea about the discount and such.
As of now, if we do 3 meals, we will have a place to hang out (like a banquet hall @ Fontana) for the weekend.
Let me lock it in and I'll get back to you all. So far they seem more active and informative.

Quick update..
This past weekend, I had a chance to talk to Vice President of Exedy clutch and Sales manager of Exedy USA (thanks to Zonblitz (Kenny)). After talking to the VP, he has verbally committed to me that they will support DGRR 2008!! Yeah!! Thats a great news since they are BIG international vendor... Hope this might spark other vendors such as Mazda USA, etc to join in.. who knows..
Also, I am still waiting to hear back from the new location. I'm hoping to lock down in next couple of weeks. Once I lock down the date and such, I'll be collecting registration fees. Unfortunately, if I were to bring in vendors and such to the event, I can only let those who registered to attend the banquet and such..
Will post more info as the event gets closer..

Phil, thank you for all the time and effort you put into making this event possible.
I'm glad to see there is another option. I hope that works out. The place looks pretty cool from their site.
Congrats on the new sponsors too. I know I'm not close, but if there is anything I might be able to help with feel free to let me know.

Thanks MoeJoe!
I'm going to try to head up there in next couple of weeks to check out the Nantahala Resort. As of now, everything looks pretty good right now.. They are being very accommodating and very flexible.

Wow, much has transpired since I check in here last! I stayed at a motel in Robbinsville last year, but anywhere is fine with me. It sure does feel like it's been
longer than six months, im looking forward to 08'. With Exedy and maybe Mazda USA, maybe someday the DGRR will be like 7stock, eastcoast style.
Thanks Herblenny!
