He started attacking the board and owners back way way before it was even IB.

It is shame he and others can't see that. I guess if they looked at all his posts for the last year they might get their eyes opened.

Maybe people don't understand how hard he fights. Anyone in question look up any of the times Kevin felt threatened by someone claiming to rebuild engines cheaper or better for the same price as him.

BTW, I only cut and pasted from the FAQ/Rules section which you ALREADY agreed to before joining this forum. Nothing new in what I posted.

You have NO clue what type of work has been done over the last several years to cater to the needs of some users.. Before you try to pass off your opinion of the situation as some type of universal truth maybe you should do some homework on the subject first.

Clearly we have no clue. Every thread on the topic is locked and sent away to the moderator forums. We only have to go on what we see. And what we see is piss poor management and unresolved beefs with forum sellers.

Because you're actively enforcing their stupid policies?

Bleh.

I used to recommend Kevin myself and even have links to his company on my own webstore/site.

But I have not recommended him for the last year, just because of his actions to members and the board. Based on his posts... he is unstable here... well I don't know if I can recommend anyone that I see as unstable.

Don't get me wrong, I like Kevin, I think he is just in some weird spot, and angry at the world right now. Maybe he hates working on cars now that he has to do it for a living. I don't know.

But I hope he gets back to the way he was 2 or 3 years ago, when he really did help people here and seemed to really like the rotary community. Not like he has been for the last year.

One can only hope.

Define attack.

I see (saw ...) Kevin saying alot of things you didn't want to hear. But I didn't see personal attacks or threatening violence.

I suppose we can agree to disagree.

Dude is just bitter and spiteful, and I can empathize with his position. I wish there was some way IB (not Rx7 Moderators) could come to a resolution with Kevin and keep him around.

Why should I?

Anyway, hypothetical. You're volunteering at a soup kitchen for the homeless. One day your boss says...

"Hey, let's grab a couple homeless guys and rape them, then torture them to death."

Do you:

A) say "fuck you" and leave; or
B) try to talk him down to just doing one?

Now that is brilliant.

Fair enough.... as we all know the saying the squeaky wheel gets the grease right...

It's widely understood in customer service avenues that positive feedback is not provided in any comparable percentage to negative feedback. This doesn't mean that positive experiences don't happen, it just means that we only hear about the people who have problems with the system. You haven't heard much from the thousands of satisfied sellers here on the forums either have you. That doesn't mean they don't exist does it? Some might call it selective feedback.

Not sure what you mean about locked away and sent to the moderation forums.

All of the Comments and Suggestion topics are retained, some are closed when a response has been given, however they still can be searched and browsed by all users.

If you feel the need to dredge up a resolved or archived thread just start a new one and reference the old one. Simple as that, no different than how the technical archives are utilized. If the thread has enough interest or if YOU have enough interest you can always ask to have a thread reopened. Is that so difficult?

Communication breaks all barriers. Let's all give it a try.

He can be around all he would like after his ban. It was only for a week. As long as he is not breaking the forum rules that he agreed too when he became a member, he is welcome here 24/7.

But IMO, I don't think that he thinks, that following the rules here, is good enough for him. I think he would like his own rules and his own way instead. I think that because he thinks he helped all the members here with advice (be it good or bad) that he is above the rules that us ordinary mortals must abide by.

rotarymandan 02-27-08 02:19 PM

It sucks when anyone who has contributed to the community so positively in the past gets banned. Whatever the reason...

RedR1 02-27-08 02:20 PM

To stay completely on topic. . . . .

I want to make out with DKJ again. Also, I want Icemark to not say no when i ask to fondle his body. A guy can only take so many rejects before he just frowns :(

Naegleria_Fowleri 02-27-08 02:20 PM

Regardless of all that happened to Kevin, and regardless as to whether it was his fault or not, this place has become tons more strict over the past couple of years. Some parts of this forum I don't even want to visit any more due to how strict they've become.

I'm one of the members that hated the lounge section and only stayed in the tech section, but due to various things that went on with the tech section way back when, I jumped to the lounge and have never looked back. Now I can see even the lounge getting enforced even more so. This time, however, I'm not going to have another section to jump over to.

Like Bouis said, those of you who are moderators here, if you don't like something, then just don't do it. Protest something, and stick up for what you believe is wrong.

The whole idea behind the classifieds section is that people aren't trying to make a ton of profit over what they are selling, they are just trying to help out this community. There is absolutely no reason in the world for someone to have to pay 200 dollars a month just to part out their car that they gave up on. If it were a habitual thing to buy cars and part them out, I could see it, but not one car alone.

And to boot, I'm still waiting for someone from IB to actually step in and say something. My bet is that they won't.

Hyperbole is also irrelevant and ineffective more often than the propagator believes.

Firefox helped me on propagator too I always want to use an o for the first a for some reason.

I heard Icemark has a great reach-around, is that true?

I know I would have kicked in as well as many others to keep the forum away from IB.

Are we not allowed to? Otherwise, let's get started!

What about the mama gator?

cp1 02-27-08 02:25 PM

wow. just read this entire thread. and ive read everything by kevin in the past hes been a lot of help on everything and ive also kept up in reading all the supposedly "problematic" posts and threads too and i think that a ban was really a bad decision. i dont make a whole lot of posts but i used to like coming on here to read posts made by some of this sites "gurus" people like kevin. now with many of them gone, no wait most of them gone because of forum and site politics it really is a site with deteriorating quality. Now before anyone goes and says ive only been a member for a year or so. ive been an avid reader for more than 5 years just never posted. and having these people leave is really bringing more and more people to question why they themselves continue to visit or bookmark it. i know myself i have an account on many other rx forums and ive been visiting this one less and less every month as more people "jump ship" too.

This might just be a big motivator for a lot of people to leave as well. maybe not completely stop viewing but definately stop contributing with quality threads, the ones kevin used to make for free and to the newb and experienced alike his posts were invaluable, like so many others.

Many of the people that were contacted, and asked to stop did just that... they habitually bought cars and parted them or habitually made the runs to the local junk yards... or they owned a shop and bought a car once a month and dumped all the parts here that they didn't use.

But the key was that they did own a shop and they were making money on just selling parts (even if their poor business sense made them sell the parts for next to nothing).

She was eaten by a giant reticulated python in the everglades. It's a sad sad story... you've seen the pics. :)

Now would REALLY be a good time for me to post up that 3600 pixel wide picture of one of my Boa's that I was going to use to make you all sidescroll.

I'll be nice though.

You make good points. For instance, I started reading this site several years before I joined (which was several years ago) and the initial reason I joined was information. Recently, the information has been deteriorating and the people of interest have been leaving, so I have been living in the lounge. If it continues down this path and I start using other forums for information, why would I continue to visit this one?

When I said that I was speaking more directly about the guy that claims he had been quoted $1,000 venue cost as he made it sound like it was a one time part out.
