Could you guy's tell me what you would be willing to pay for this car Please be serious in this thread I know what the car is worth $25,000.00 invested. But I realize I will not get this please tell me if you were looking what you would ask for it.
Mods I realize you may think this is in the wrong section but I am yet not ready to sell it and am looking for opinions. Thank You Please leave it in here.

If I cannot Sell it for a reasonable Amount 10,000 I am going to part it out because most of the parts alone are worth that. Though Still a rotary enthusiast I would like to keep the car in one piece.

I would personally never buy an already modified car. I prefer to do things myself, that way I know how everything was done and I'm the one to blame if something breaks. But if I came across a modified car that had a ton of aftermarket parts on it for cheap, I'd probably pick it up. I don't know how many people are like me, but I'm sure there are a few of us out there.

I think it's safe to say that you cannot always count on your modifications to increase the value of your car.

The absolute best thing you can do is have your car appraised. Find a knowledgable person in your area and give him a call. He'll come to your house, take pictures and inspect the car. Then, about a week later you'll get a certified document stating the *Replacement Value* of your car. That way you can insure it for that value. This isn't really what the car will be worth on the open market, it is what you would need to spend to get your car back if it was stolen.

I had this done on my '86 and was astonished at how much it was evaluated at. But once you start adding it up, it makes sense. My insurance company mow has a copy of the appraisal and my car is insured for that value.

I know a good guy in Ottawa, but I'm sure that the local car club guys can point you in the right direction.

Ooh.. Nick who'se your good guy in Ottawa? I want to get mine appraised relatively soon. I hate the idea of having my car "un-insurable" for its own worth. In Quebec two insurance companies have told me that I can't get any replacement value for my car if the last model went out of production 10 or more years ago unless I get an appraisal certificate to show them that it has value.

the modified the car is to your taste the smaller the buyer X section you'll have. I would say you'd get more if you parted out some of it and returned what you can to stock form. Obviously you can return the engine to stock but stereo, external and internal mods... those would all sell for more induvidually.

The guy's name is John Cruise, out of Grandpa's Garage - I got his name from Will.

It costs $135, and you get two copies - one with pics and one without. Well worth it in my opinion.

There is no market for a highly modded 2nd gen on this forum. But they will gladly pay you the same amount if you take the time to part it out. I think the highest selling price I have noted for a 2gen in the Canadian classifieds was around $7500. And that is for a completely stock rust free example.

Well the thought of selling All of my modified parts and returning the car to stock has crossed my mind. But i am not entirely certain that that is the way. to go. Unfortunately this is the case. I have seen Tii's is all conditions go for 8900 to 10,000 bone stock arround here I figured a car with all new suspension bushings and the like, new engine, higher HP would go for a little higher.
But one can never really guess how that will turn out.
On that note anybody interessted in any of the above Modifications? LOL.

Appraisals have done be done by a licensed person in order to be honoured by an insurance company, make sure your guy is actually licensed - by the sound of it he is as approx. $100 is the going rate for a proper appraisal.

We do them here for 100 + tax (115) if you would like one, give us a call - (905) 779 3969

Do not bother to sell a complete, highly modified car on the RX-7 forum. The Lawyer is right, there is no market.

This place is innundated with kids that call any car not dirty, 'mint'; that think you can get a great paintjob for a thousand bucks; and build a 400 HP car with a few grand and some duct tape and expect it to last more than a few months...

...yes, we are throwing money out the window with these cars. No one is expecting a return in their investment, but, in this place, you wouldn't even get a fair value for what you built.

Don't think anyone could have said it better. It really sucks but it's true.

Your best chance of getting a decent amount for a car like this is to put it on ebay. Or post it on a few forums and hope someone that realizes it's a very well built can and actually has the money comes by.

Best of luck! That car sounds very well put together.

It's not just Rx7's.

You can't sell ANY highly modified car and expect to get your money back. Anyone who bought and modified an Rx7 as an investment piece may as well have bought it for it's good fuel economy.

That's just the way it is with cars. Even restoring a muscle car costs twice what you can sell it for. But you know what? I don't think anyone really cares. I bought my car to enjoy, as did most of you. Enjoy it, regardless of the cost.

And Classicauto is right, your appraiser has to be lisenced for your insurance to accept it. My guy was, and I'd reccommend you guys with modified cars get your appraisal done.

don't expect a sell for a car like this on an internet forum.
you would probably have better luck putting it in printed classifieds (i.e. Auto Trader), more general classified websites (intended just for selling cars), or hell even eBay.

value of the car? i don't really want to say anything because, honestly, i have nothing to back up my "opinion" of the cost.
but if i were to guess, putting myself in that postion, i would not take anything less than $15k minimum.
try posting that price on here...then count how many idiots give you the "but that's like how much an FD costs" line...
