Wiring issue, help needed$$
Im currently in the process of reassembling my rx-7. I have installed a new dash, relocated battery and painted the interior.
When I went to turn the key, I heard the fuel pump go on, and then the fuel pump relay just keeps ticking, opening then closing.
i was just wondering what that may be?
Also if there is anyone more experienced in wiring I am looking for someone to help with the wiring. I will pay fair amounts to anyone willing to come help get it wired, im just trying to get it on the track for the summer.
Thanks,
Justin

sorry!
Im located in mississauga ontario,
its a 87 turbo 2 with a ls1/t-56.
The car has all autometer gauges in it, (no cluster). All the heater core and fans are all removed. All I need is for the car to run and have lights, I dont care about any hatch sensors etc.

So the old fuel relay is still under the dash supplying power to the pump?
Have you tried switching out that relay,or disconnecting it and tapping it,put it back on and try it again?
Also is the driver's side harness still in the car?

yes, I removed the relay and tested the relay with ground and +12v, it works fine
I gave +12v to the fuel pump and it also works fine, just as it did when I removed everything.
My battery is pretty much shot so I have a charger connected to it. The relay only keep ticking when the charger is on 20A.
The driver harness Is there but pretty much everything is removed, only rear lights, defroster, power mirrors and fuel pump going to the car.
Does this sound like a short somewhere? When I close the power windows and it gets tot he very bottom the fuel pump relay was also switching on.
Im sure its nothing serious as everything worked when it was removed, I just do not have alot of expierence with wiring.
Thanks for the help.

it sounds like a short, but where is anyone's guess due to the modifications.
Is there a way that you can take that relay out,and then take a switched ignition wire to a relay that would sit at the back of the car?.(you need some sort of safety so the switched 12volts would do it).
If the stock system is giving you problems then I would ditch the fuel side of that stock wiring.
That is IF that is the only thing that is giving you a problem.
Otherwise you are on the hunt for a gremlin.

I'd check your sensor's as they could be loose, therefore causing the "on/off" thing. check if you have everything clipped in. My shop is in North York so if you want to bring it there I can take a look at it for you!
